197 exhaust loudness

how noisy are standard systems. I couldn't hear mine cos manifold was cracked and flexis shot when I bought it. Have to say is quite loud when going for it. I was going to look at milltek but now think i may not like it any louder

My flexis have a slight leak and the standard system sounded way too quiet. There was more induction noise than anything. I don't think any resonated aftermarket exhausts are going to be too loud

Not sure i entirely agree on the resonated thoughts though. Although i'm not your average early 20's user here ! Scorpion resonated plenty enough for these ears....although as you say; its hardly ASBO material.

As stated - on a standard system with zero leaks; your more likely to hear induction noise than exhaust until fairly well up the rev range. And even then its a pretty bland and not hugely sporty tone.

Hmmm ok. What size is normal exhaust ? Bore wise. I wonder if not standard but looks it. Both cats still in and standard.

Bingo, that'll be the cause of the loudness. Centre silencers can be picked up for peanuts on here

You've just described pretty much ever Honda that's ever been put into production lol. To be honest it shouldn't sound like that at all.

Take the diffuser off, and if the backbox isn't the same as the one below, it looks like you have an aftermarket system

Mine is standard but would only say it's boomy around 3-5k revs. Quiet at idle and not loud at full chat.

I read somewhere the standard exhaust is stainless steel is this correct or bullsh!t?

It's a bit like a nagging wife, ok for five then you want to tell it to shut up. Will look into miltek or something
