Corbeau Clubsport?

Before I go spending £1500 on Recaro Pole Positions, does anyone have experience with Corbeau Clubsports? They're a third of the cost and after selling my Sportsters, I'd have plenty of money left over for mods, even after buying these! Pole Positions would cost me another £4-500 over the top of selling the Sportsters.

I'm not bothered by the fact they're not FIA stamped, as it's a road car. I'm really looking for opinions of build quality, stitching, comfort etc.

What does an fia stamp actually mean do you know? sorry to hijack

It's an international certification for motorsport use.

So if you're building a car to class regs or spec, then you'll need FIA-approved cages, seats and harnesses (amongst other things) to pass tech inspections. They have expiry dates on all equipment to make sure people aren't using old and potentially dangerous safety equipment, too.

And to make sure you buy more even when your current ones may be perfectly suitable! They should make a date for checking off all equipment.

Ha. Yeah. Although it's good news for the road buyer who can potentially snag a bargain with high-end race equipment that's expired.

Christopher, have you considered the weight and the position of the harness holes? Weight there is probably not much in it but depending on how you fit in them, the position of the holes could have a massive effect on safety.

New seats is an absolute minefield. You need to sit in some to be sure was the conclusion I came to when looking for a set for mine.

Yeah I did. I've messed up with that on previous buckets! Long story.

I'm only 5' 7" so I need to think of these things! Ha.

I'll be running the standard seatbelts rather than harnesses, so that's not an issue for me.

Would be keen to know also. Tempted to get these (when they are eventually back in stock) instead of PP's.

A friend of mine has these in his Lupo GTI, which previously had Recaros CS's in it. As a comparator, he said that the Club Sports are a less comfortable and that he would be unsure how they would be for long distance driving.

Thanks for the info. Mine's not really a daily... although it is at the moment because I'm lazy and drive a mile to work. :|

Aside from the Nurburgring, it doesn't really do long trips.

I have these fitted will get some pics up tomorrow if you like, I have the standard size seat for me and xl size for passenger, the standard size seat is pretty snug and I'm only 5'7 and 32" waist

Would be good to see thanks. I know for a fact I would need the XLs haha

I have these in my Mini Cooper s and for the price you really can't go wron good quality and come with side mounts and runners. A lot of people run them on the mini groups

Can you really run standard belts with any safety or security using buckets ?

Surely the lap part of the belt would be held up by the deep bolsters and provide no support to your waist...........

Either way. At £400 for a pair - thats a throwaway price quite honestly compared to most aftermarket seats of any sort.

I've got these and there a few pros and cons with them,
Pros are : they are really light weight, surprisingly comfy and as you have said really cheap given they come with the side mounts and sliders.

Cons: they have a little bit of flex and can be quite squeekey at times. also the back is very low.

I would also avoid the OMP subframes as these are very low and the bolt holes to mount to the car have been known to be a good 1cm out of line.

I am a 32-34 waist and the XL are a close fit.

These are full 5/6 point so the seat belt can be routed though the lap belt points. and the original buckle modified to be used.

Perfect then. A genuine bargain i'd say in that case.

Wear patches, good spec, great reviews, look good. Whats not to like ?

****What else would be needed to fit a pair of these over the £380 seat purchase price ?

They come with side mounts too, so I believe an OMP floor mount thing for the side mounts to bolt onto and resistors for the airbags.

Thankyou.

What needs to be done to the buckle to work ? I presume its the female part in the centre of the car that needs lengthening / modifying etc - so a connection between belt and buckle can be had ?

Cheers.

Arent the OMP mounts the ones that are offset on the drivers side, or the holes dont line up properly or.....?

I paid £300 for the pair direct from corbeau and for that price there a bargain come with runners and side mounts however I have had the squeak from the seats and I think it's from the runners and not the actual seats, not much adjustability in the side mounts either but at that price can't complain, for the female part of the seatbelt I just drilled another hole in my subframes to mount them although I will be getting harnesses at some point when I sort out a cage.
