Hi- time to build my 197 Track Toy

Hi All

I write this on my way to pick up my little 197, I have a 172 aswell but that’s likely to be getting sold for track bits

I am sure I will be asking the same questions that are asked over and over again.

I won’t be tuning the engine. So no questions about superchargers or turbos but if anynof you have suspension bit, cages/ harness bars and harnesses I am all ears and rather buy from a club then random people on eBay if that’s an option.

Finally HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Happy New Year and Welcome.

LOVE the username buddy.

Have fun today picking the new beast up......JEALOUS !!!

Welcome and happy New year to you too..
We are here to help so don't hesitate and shoot away...

Welcome along Paul! Are you running Recaros in there? Or are seats on the shopping list too?

Chav

I haven’t got recaros- I will be running some OMP Seats.

Then I have look at harnesses. Can you buy harness bars for Clio’s or is it straight to cages? I like the idea of retaining rear seats if possible.

So it seems that the only spoilers and splitters people run are the Renault sport stuff?

Any replicas or alternatives that are recommended?

Top tip I got today was Renault Laguna Silverstone wheels fit fine... any other wheels worth looking for?

Thanks all

Yeah you can. Ktec do them, I'm sure others would too.. Apparently for a quick job, the harnesses do bolt to the Isofix and I've seen several people use them. Although I say that, when a second hand Ktec rear bolt in cage with a harness bar comes up, I'll be seriously wanting it!

Speedlines are always a popular choice. Have a flick through this thread, I'm currently running Sparco Assetto Garas with AD08r tyres and a set of 200 Cup wheels with Michelin Pilot Sport 3. http://www.clio197.net/threads/the-definitive-what-wheels-thread.30946/

Thanks- I will have a look.

I wouldn’t run the harnesses off the isofix, whilst I am sure it will be fine the fixing is too low, I want something in line with your shoulders

If it has to be a cage then fair enough, just know there are ways to use the three point seat belt fixings and go from pillar to pillar on other cars and didn’t know if there was something similiar for the Clio. 2 bolts and jobs done. Plus easily reversable maybe I need to make one

I'm going to be fitting the ktec harness bar as my hillclimb class insists on rear seats being fitted which makes a cage complicated. Not ideal, not cheap, but there's nothing else I can find.
Wheels wise I'm fitting (on order) Team Dynamics pro race 1.2s 8j x 17.
Seats and mounts I'm undecided just yet, as I am with a new steering wheel.
Exterior I'm intending to go for the smaller Sprint spoiler rather than the cup item.

Safety devices do a cage where you can keep all of the standard interior! have a look on their website
