Adjusting headlights

Hi guys,I was just wondering if there is another way apart from the switch inside the cockpit to adjust the headlights as the light is pointing all down on the tarmac I would love to raise it a little bit not too much but just a tad can I do it manually from the headlights? Or they are fixed?

I would also like to know this headlights seem to be pointing too low compared to my mk3. I fitted Osram nightbreakers a few days ago and the headlights still seem poor compared to my mk3 200 which had same bulbs

I adjusted a little white beam adjuster but it didn't do anything

If they are projectors and you reached round blind to fit the h1 bulbs and the beam was higher before then the bulbs are not seated right I had this happen even just slightly clockwise and the flat side not perfect with the stopper can throw the beam power and height way off as the two dimples push the bulb crooked even if it feels OK .


Rough Guide for home adjusting put the in car adjuster to one click from the highest point first so when all is done and your temped to adjust after to cant adjust to above the legal limit "A vehicle with headlamps installed at a height of 60 cm has a low beam with a range of 60 meters (at 1% forward tilt = 10 cm inclination to 10 m range)." So at 10m the beam centre should be 10cm lower than the centre of the headlight and if you are following a car and your lighting up the roof cloth and interior mirror of the car in front then your being a dick, and be prepared to be flashed at and given the fingers or brake checked.

OK thanks for your reply,so I'm guessing mine are alright is just the light that is not good because when I'm following a car I usually light to about 20/30 cm under the rear glass.

Check the bulbs are fitted correctly before anything else or you are adjusting the lights for your mistake and if the bulbs are changed again correctly then it was a waste of time.
Like most things on the forum we need the background info what kind of head lights you have and what's the car I'm assuming it's a 200T I assume also the car does not have xenon's (not sure of the options on this model) so no auto levelling system so you have the dash adjuster inside the car. Use the dash adjuster to put the lights as high as they can go before you start get the car lined up like in the pervious post check the beam pattern on the wall the more reflective the wall the easier it will be to isolate each headlight you can throw a coat over the other or stand in front of it to block the light has two adjusters one for height and the other from the back which adjusts left to right. So adjust the headlights to the previous diagram and your legal if you find the beam top edge lighting the headrest, roof cloth and interior mirror of the car in front then they are too high the internal adjuster can bring them down remember only a little dirt on the headlights can have a big affect on the distance of the light especially following other cars at this time of year and weather. No4 is the height adjuster and No.5 is the left and right adjuster. I think it is a 6mm Allen key you need for adjustment and remember it's adjustment don't treat it like tightening a bolt or you will break the adjuster.

I just had look and this is what I have on mine,I tried to turn slightly the white adjuster but is not doing anything and is very stiff as well any suggestions please?

At this point I would stop what your doing before you break something the picture makes no sense to me I don't even know what way is up and that could be the adjuster at full travel and could be the beam left to right. Pay the money go to a quick fit or something and get the headlights properly set for a fixed price.

Thanks for the reply,sorry the picture is this way up,and that's the passenger headlight viewed from in front so if you are watching the car the passenger side is your right handside.
Under the white adjuster there is an Allan key adjuster but I didn't try it to be honest,but yes like you said maybe better to go and get them adjusted do you think halfords will do it?
