Amazed we don't have a thread for this already. (unless the search just isn't bringing it up...)

Anyway, to stop @Sean197 and I (and @peter too!) spamming the F1 thread with WEC banter, here's a WEC thread. Have at it.

To kick things off, here's a video of Alonso in his first WEC practice session and being pretty awesome.

Love how quickly it hits absolute vmax as soon as he's onto Kemmel. The commitment / grip level around Stavelot is pretty mega. And you can hear it run out of hybrid boost on the run after Blanchimont.

Thanks for opening my eyes to proper balls out racing! The level of grip is insane...

WAAAAY better than F1 mate. A lot of people are put off due to it being 6 hours but personally I like the excuse for a lazy day!

Have you ever watched one?

Nope, though I went onto Sky and set the planner to record the race tomorrow afternoon in case I'm out.

That is mind blowing!

Surely that’s been speeded up?

Grip levels at ridiculous speeds is unimaginable.

Faster than Hamilton's F1 pole from last year. Before the 2018 F1 aero change, the WEC LMP1 hybrids were only 3 or 4 seconds off an F1 car in terms of lap time.
Looking forward to Spa tomorrow, and seeing how Alonso does in the Toyota.

You should check out the classis Le Mans programmes on Motorsport TV, some of the all-time best racing cars including McLaren F1, Peugeot 905, Porsche 956, Merc CLK GTR to name a few.

Wait until you see the speed differential between the LMP1 cars at the front of the grid and the GT cars at the back. It's insane. Constant fighting through traffic for the LMP1, constant trying to keep out of the way while still being fast as hell for the GT guys.

And the GT cars still sound incredible. Well, most of them... you know me and turbocharging...

That said, the new BMW (although quiet) sounds like the devil:

I’ve got it set to record on motors tv to watch when I’m back home and get a chance, just a shame I can’t find an HD channel on Sky to record. Anyone????

I’ve been a fan of WEC for a few years now and as mentioned above I also think it’s much better than F1 too. It also never gets old seeing how comically slow the (very fast) GT cars are compared to the prototypes.

Fittipaldi possibly broken both legs, not good. Looks like something broke at Eau Rouge causing the car to go straight.

Manor having to withdraw as Ginetta haven't received payment from Manor's Chinese sponsors.

good battles at the end, especially in GTE with the 2 Astons, but LMP1 is gonna be very boring if this race is anything to go by. The top class is in danger of going the same way as Group C if they can't get more manufacturers involved.

Been away in the hills for the weekend so just caught up with the race last night. Not bad. Predictable at the front but the GT battle was as good as ever, especially between the Porsche and the Ford.

Glad Tincknell is ok. Nasty one.
