Pav's Albi Blue 197T

will do this weekend i think...

Sunday 6am. Through Chester on to the A5104, on through to the A5 and then Evo Triangle. If you're feeling really energetic you could do the Llanberis pass too. 2.5 hours from home I'd guess. God damn that's a good drive. Once you leave Chester it's fantastic the whole way. Can't recommend it enough if you haven't done it mate.

Ha, mate, I WISH. Bit far from London!

Ignore the A5104 bit, it doesn't really add much that's exciting.

Made a route for you:

Fuck, looking at that map has got me desperate to drive it again. This route doesn't complete the triangle. You'd need to miss the last point to Llanberis and return to Cerrigydrudion to do that. But that's pretty much an easy straight run with little to no braking. So the last point to Llanberis could be skipped and just return home, but the Llanberis pass is awesome, if a little busy. Obviously the earlier the better.

You could also swap out Llanberis for Beddgelert, that's equally brilliant and equally (if not more) scenic. Loads of great places to stop for a glorious photo of your car, or to pull over and wait for a gap in the traffic. And there's the Snowdon Viewpoint car park if you head this way, that's definitely worth the stop.

Evo triangle is SO worth it though. Just keep your eye out for police and mobile speed cameras.

Do it mate, promise you'll enjoy the hell out of it.

More than welcome mate. I just know what a great drive that is, I'd be happy to know someone else is enjoying it too. Especially such a top bloke as yourself.

I've done the Alps and in my humble opinion, the roads in Wales are very bloody close. Even better in some cases as most of the Alpine routes are mainly short squirts and switchback hairpins. The scenery is obviously better over there but it's pretty bloody good in Wales too.

Reminds me of my childhood holidays, lot of time spent in Snowdonia but I haven't been for a good ten years. This route just brings me back to a time where stress didn't exist!!!

Think I will get out there later this year, stay in a B&B around Llanberis or Caernarfon somewhere and simply enjoy the roads for a few days.

I'd love to try the Evo triangle sometime. When I lived in Surrey I sometimes did a Saturday or Sunday run up to Snowdonia or Anglesey and back on my motorbike. Long day, but great roads & worth the effort.

Glad I have great roads on my doorstep now.

If I can get myself together I'll organise a proper forum run for a few days out there in the summer. Brecon / Black Forest roads are pretty good too.

Honestly, for me, I prefer the run out to Beddgelert or the Llanberis Pass. You have to spend far too much time in three figure speeds to get much out of the triangle.
