ok lads..all done finally!!took almost a week of being on the phone and ringing around..as i said earlier,the problem was my post code..not many companies were happy to insure my car hence the wild quotes!!
just a few i've been in touch with:
Brentacre
Keith Michaels
Sky insurance
Adrian Flux
and a few others..
thanks to all of for your help..most of these companies were very helpful so if anyone is interested,i do recommend all above..
the winner is "Need to insure" though..as the only company they were happy to insure all my mods knowing my post code..its a bit more than you all are used to (even myself) but the cheapest of all..
fully comp £900..bare in mind i was getting quotes of 9,000,7,000 so getting one of £900 feels like a heaven
plus Paul was absolutely great on the phone..very helpful and i felt like he really knew his stuff and cared..not like the other companies where you feel like you dont have a second to tell them what you really want to...

I absolutely feel your pain. We live in a money pit post-code too. I've just had a similar quote for the new one. But that's with no NCB so I can't complain too much. I'll be giving your guy a go too though having read this, you never know. Insurance is such a pain. The amount of time I've spent on the phone to them over the years is scary.
Anyway, glad you've got it sorted. Sometimes you have to just suck it up. Hopefully it will be better next year.

yeah like you say-suck it up and move on..thanks and i do recommend Paul very highly..easy to talk to and he knew when i mentioned all the diff mods..

amenExcellent news Pav, really glad you managed to get something sensible sorted out. Pity that it's a lot of money, but still a lot better than £7k!!
Fingers crossed you can get the temps issue sorted now and you can be back to enjoying the Witch stress-free!
