Was just remembering this vote (which I never really saw) and the impending Black/Silver diamond vote - a lot less important I know - would it be a good idea to maybe look at getting a 'news' bar set up above the forum lists on the main page which would be great for threads like this to get a lot more attention?

That's a very good idea, thank you for suggesting it! We are restricted with regards the layout of the forum, however anything that's classed as important is usually Pinned at the top of the relevant section, or we create a forum-wide alert that goes out to everyone. That's been enough up to now, but we'll certainly bear it in mind going forward.
