Mega update mate.

My GOD what a before and after. Looks just SO much better. I know you've thought long and hard about wheel choice and it's come good in the end mate. They're awesome.

Sits so much better now too. That rear shot looks amazing.

Steering feel nice?

It’s looking really nice is that Micah, love the alloys. Tbf I like the trophy wheels but shame they’re 18”.

Her commute is a round trip of 3 miles, boot space may let us down though but it can’t be any worse than her Juke!

It's like they engineered the Juke to look big but be impractical. A friend of mine bought one and then realised she couldn't actually get the pushchair in the boot!
Bloody hell that was a long post!!

Worth the read though...

Car looks ace on the new wheels. Look forward to seeing how much difference the Yokos make.

Just need to book another TD now:wink:

Thanks mate, that's 10 minutes of your life you'll never get back! I'm hoping we can all get back to Snetterton in July... knowing our luck it will be wet though!
Brilliant update. Literally ! They look superb. You must be chuffed. I would be. Just the right stance and poke. Nice....

Thanks Shuv, it's taken many weeks to get to this point and I'm really pleased with the outcome. I was worried 17's would look too small and ruin the look of the car, but seems I got away with it :tongueout:
Those Sparco's look cracking and the offset is on point! You're definitely not helping my ever growing shopping list haha

Cheers mate - that's your problem, I never said I was a role model

Can't wait to get back on track, will hopefully keep up with the Mk3 boys now!

Thanks Mes, pretty sure I've been banging on about wheels to you for months now - never thought this day would come!
I'm such a fan of the overall shape of the Mk4 now, the front especially, but it's starting to look good at the rear, too. Still not Mk3 territory but it's not bad, as that photo demonstrates (it's all in the angles  )
Steering was INSTANTLY noticeable, I need to read up on 'unsprung weight' and what it actually means! It's a dream to drive, so effortless.
@Micah: It's just the new tyres. :sunglasses:

Maybe

Yeah they're good wheels but the finish is appalling after a while. You can actually see in that picture all of the surface scratches on the paint. Whether that's me, I don't know. @CallorFold you might want to look into some ceramic sealant mate!
I know the Trophy wheels NEVER come up for sale, but they'd fetch a good premium, and wouldn't mind some lightweight 18's for the Michelin Pilot's in winter...

In the meantime, I'm already eyeing up the next purchase - WHEN WILL IT END?! :tearsofjoy:

Thanks Pav. Definitely lighter - I don't break my back putting them on! As said before, the steering is just so light now.
Next track day was hopefully going to be an evening session at Brands Hatch, but realised it's tomorrow night, and I'm going to Valencia tomorrow afternoon, so will have to see what's local/cheap in the coming months. I'm 99% certain I'll do Snetterton on a Sunday in late July though.

Time for an update now life is returning to a steadier pace!
I jumped on the bandwagon for a group buy for an RS Tuning map and paid my deposit in May for a June booking (last Thursday). As more and more Mk4's were hitting high 240's to low 250's, I couldn't wait to find out what mine would make.
There are a few who do track days and there was some deliberation as to what the intake temps would be post-map. Anything above 50 degrees and the power gets wound back, and we don't want that do we? One Mk4 reported intake temps of 80 degrees at the Ring after his map, with just the stock intercooler. Another Trophy was hitting 50 degrees at an evening session at Brands, so this lovely piece of kit from Pro Alloy was fitted at RS Tuning prior to the map...

Then it went onto the rollers. The first thing Paul asked me was if it felt a bit sluggish low down. I said it did at times and then he pointed at the dyno screen. 198bhp! He found a stored fault that translated into the car cutting back the torque. For how long it has been like this, I have no idea! The moment he cleared it, it made 215. Then he went about working his magic and although was confident at first he could get it to 250, it made 241.6 after quite a few runs at varying levels of jiggery-pokery.
He has been losing traction on the rollers lately and I haven't seen anything hitting more than low 240's, so once the knurls are re-done I'd be interested to see how the results come out. We also don't know the consistency of Tesco 99, whereas V Power is pretty reliable. Not that I'm looking for excuses, how I see it is that I've got another 43bhp to play with!

I was such a zombie from the drive up the night before, limited sleep and hanging around, the drive home was uneventful, apart from being hit by stones from lorries on the shitty A1, one has chipped the bonnet, the other has put a very small crack in the windscreen. I also noticed the intercooler pipes were not quite aligned, and this led to some very, very minor melting of the slam panel cover.

After stressing about it all day at work on Friday, as soon as I got home I just shifted the silicon hose around and got it spot on with my trusty 8mm socket! After checking everything over again, I went for a hoon.
WOW - what an animal it has become, so much fun! My immediate thought was that I'm going to have to learn this car all over again at Snetterton next month. I really can't wait!
I tried a cheeky 0-62 on my private road in Mexico, and that was in Sport and Auto. Ignore the 1/4 mile time as I backed off once the speedo went over 60.

As the car was caked in flies from the 442 mile round trip to Leeds, I gave the car some TLC this weekend, inside and out, and looks lovely once again. Time to stop spending money and just enjoy it now.

What a fantastic update Micah! The car must be such fun now. Can't wait to catch up with you for another passenger ride. Enjoy Snetterton.

awesome, bet it feels very different now. The mk4's are really growing on me, especially in white.
