    Horrible grinding noise when started.

Its been running fine since Friday. I'm hoping it was just a faulty starter solenoid or something. I could tell the starter motor drive gear was still in mesh with the flywheel as I had a high pitch whine when driving, I didn't really have a grinding noise though until I pressed the start stop...

Just a quick update on this. I've had a new Bosch starter motor fitted along with a new fuse and its working as it should now. Cost £310 all in for future reference.

Recommended Garage Near Sale / Manchester

Can anyone recommend a trusted / reliable garage in the greater Manchester area. Preferably local to Sale / Altrincham. I have a starter motor issue where it stays on & engaged against the flywheel when the engine has started. Any help will be much appreciated. Cheers

    Horrible grinding noise when started.

I have this exact same problem. Went to the shops, came out five minutes later, started the car and got the same grinding noise described in the original post. My motor also sticks on after the engine is stopped. Does anyone know if it's a DIYable job or is it best left to my mechanic

    What bulbs?

I fitted Phillips White Vision in mine last week when both of my Osrams blew at once; Link below http://www.eurocarparts.com/ecp/p/car-accessories/car-maintenance-accessories/bulbs/upgrade-headlampbulbs/?48177017W&0&cc5_847 They are a nice crisp white giving a clean OEM look. The free...

    hesitation

Good stuff, it might take a few tank full's through it to notice any difference. There's also a thread in the 'how to' section about the MAP sensor as well which may be worth looking at.

What fuel do you run ? I run mine on shell Nitro+ and it seems to behave much better; especially when cold in winter. Powerflex engine mounts also help to put the power through the drivetrain by limiting engine movement but you have to put up with a bit more noise and vibration. Joining is well...

    Brakes failing me

Could be worth checking the brake servo non return valve (and the pipe) for leaks if you are hearing a hissing from the engine bay.

Running different tyres front and back?

iirc you want the new tyres / better grip on the rears to help prevent oversteer events caused by the rears unexpectedly letting go before the fronts.

    Bit of help please.....

Top stabiliser mount; Part No. 8200 298484 ... I think you can only get them from Renault. Mine cost around £55 with VAT from my local dealer. Took around an hour to fit myself.

    Door Courtesy Lights

Does anyone know where I can get new door courtesy light assemblies. I bought my car ages ago and didn't even realise they were missing. I only noticed now I've ordered 12 LED 501's to upgrade the lighting. Cheers in advance.

    Brembo pads from nextdaybrakes

I had the exact same issue, I called the technical adviceline and they weren't very useful. If you want to order from them you have toorder the pads for a Renault MEGANE II 2.0 Renault Sport. Partnumber is P68036 iirc. Although I had this problem they did refund me and organizea courier to...

Slight clunk when pulling away when cold..

Managed to get the top mount done over the weekend during a small break in the shocking weather. Seems to have cured the knock that I was having so I'm pretty pleased. While I had the wipers and trim off I took the opportunity to clean out the bulkhead drains as they were both blocked up with...

Slight clunk when pulling away when cold..

Just looked at changing the top stabiliser mount, not as simple as I'd hoped. Do I need to remove the wipers & plastic bulkhead to get enough clearance to remove the bolt. Any help would be much appreciated. Here's the culprit

Slight clunk when pulling away when cold..

I have a very similar knock, also does it as you let off the accelerator and let the car roll in gear. I've checked the top stabilizer mount and there does seem to be excessive movement so I've ordered a new one and should be fitting it early next week (Hopefully). Will report back when its done.

My rear piston won't wind in !!

I did mine last week also, I found that a two prong chuck key (Picture Below) from a 115mm angle grinder lines up with the grooves in the piston pretty well. In combination with a G-clamp you can apply a good amount of force. If you have one laying around id give it a go.
