UPDATE: Today I have found out that if I wiggle the gear stick side to side a bit as pushing the stick forward into 3rd it goes go in, without selecting another gear first. This sounds more and more like a linkage problem maybe? Just curious if anyone else has had this before?

Hi Andrew, That sounds like a different problem to what I am having to be honest as mine is not making any noises when trying to get the gear its just like the gear is not there until a gear on the same bank is selected.

Just a quick update, I have (up to yet at least) had luck with turning the traction control off and its not played up since. A bit annoying remembering to turn it off each time though. Thanks for all the help.

Its normal for this Nissan supplied engine to sound like that bud. Mine was the same for 30k no issues. If you listen to a Nissan Juke Nismo R they sound exactly the same as they have the same engine just manual gearbox.
