big brake upgrade

is there one out for the clio? anyone know of any 6 pot's? been hunting about but nothing is really standing out to me at the moment

not sure if anything will ever be announced being solely designed for the clio as the car has a 4 pot as standard... but sure is possible to fit something, give a call to a few big brake specialists, I am sure they 'll find something that fits

Try looking for something for the Megane, braking system is the same and probably a more common candidate for upgrades.

KTec do a larger disc, retaining the standard caliper.

thats what i am doing, i saw that on k-tec website, but i like to be different

Look out for someone breaking a 250 and nab the calipers from that? Would need 18" wheels though I'm sure thats no trouble for you

I think the 250 also used a different PCD.

Yup they do!

Think your best bet is a Meg big brake kit, I am sure that Brembo do one, TBH I would be just after the best looking discs and decent pads you can get along with some thin alloys to show them off!

What brakes are you running at the moment? Wouldn't bells with grooved rotors and perhaps DS2500's suffice, even with your increased power?

I am running standard pads with alloy bells and AP grooved rotors, yesterday I had smoke pouring out of them (when stationary) but there was no change in braking performance. Granted you will have more power, but the same discs with more aggressive pads should be more than adequate.

i totally hear u, and tbh if i was just staying standard i would agree, but i will be getting more power

i would have thought that whatever the megane guys have would be ok for the 197 as it will be lighter than a megane

i have the k-tec 2 part discs and ds2500.....they work better the hotter they get

If I was going to change anything on mine it would be going for DS2500's, but the standard pads are so much cheaper and haven't faded yet, plus are perfectly adequate for 95% of my driving.

Si - have you gone for DS2500 front and rear or just front?

if you change the size / No. of pots on the break calliper you will not have the same breaking force without changing the master cylinders too. As it is a closed pressure system. Also you will have problems with break assists etc too.

My advice is, good pads or k tec big disk kit, don’t change the callipers!!!

ds2500 fronts

ds pads rear :thumbup1:

plus of course a yearly brake strip

Nice, mine get stripped regularly so that isn't a prob, but I was concerned that switching to the DS2500's would be over £200 for the whole shooting match whereas new standard Ferodo/Brembos are under £40 for fronts alone, and my rears are relatively new so no point in changing them.

The 330 mm megane upgrade from ktec will be more than adequate for 300 + bhp and some pagid pg5. cant see any reason for anything else.
