Blowing main fuse

Hi guys
Had my 200 for about a year, replaced the gearbox about 2 months ago and did about 500 miles since. Took the car on a track day last week, car was going really well for first few laps and then on 3rd lap started making a funny raspy noise from engine, drove into pits and car then stalled. Tried to re-start the car but it clicked and then all instruments etc went dead. Something seems to be tripping out the main batter fuse (one on terminal). Already taken starter heat shield off and can't see anything obvious. Replaced fuse and it does same thing when pressing start button. Anyone got any ideas?
Cheers
Sandy

Battery connection all ok, I can't see any damage to wires at alternator. Could a knackered Sartre cause it to short like that?

Don't suppose your starter motor was sticking on? Happened to a friend recently and ended up blowing the main fuse.
