Clio 197 flat spot. Additional info please

Good to hear that it's improved the flatspot  Tbh panel filters don't make much difference at all if any when comparing them. You may get a small noise increase depending on which one you go for but any aftermarket one should suffice. Most people go for one by company preference really. The exhaust blow might be the flexipipes on the exhaust manifold, before the first cat. It's very common for them to degrade and start to blow. Btw the fuel filter only needs to be changed at 144,000 miles as it's part of the sender.

Thanks for the input! Ill stick the fuel filter on at a later date no rush. I'll get car into local specialist to investigate the flexipipes. Probably just go for a k&n or the ktec one.

Most people seem to rate the ITG Panel filter as the best. It comes in at ~£55

Personally, I opted for a PiperCross one - I believe they're made of the same material (so I'm not sure what, if any differences there are), and it came in at ~£30

I agree! I cant see how one foam filter can be massively different to another. I'll probably go for a k&n or the ktec one. Cheers

Glad you've finally got to the bottom of what's sounded like a frustrating problem!
just for record too I stuck a BMC filter in mine! But as most have said whether it makes much difference ???

I know this is an old post, but changing the VVT solenoid and camshaft sensor fixed the problem? Mines awful to drive cold and has a flat spot at 4000 when warm. Do we know if its both or just one of these items? on eurocarparts I can see the camshaft position sensor is £25, cant find the vvt solenoid though, any one got any links?

Mine had a dodgy camshaft sensor, diagnosed by Engine Dynamics on the spot. I’d get that first and try it, if it doesn’t work you’ve changed it anyway and it’s something less to go wrong later down the line.

That sounds about right on location. I believe that's the right one, certainly looks like it! Might be worth cross referencing the product number seeing if you can find if it matches up to the OEM number?

Thanks Benno, I'll give it go. The sensor is held in by a 10mm bolt and is down by the dipstick right? Once the bolt is removed does it just pull out out?
Is this the beast?

I took my inlet off, as I have spades for hands.
But yes from memory it was a 10mm bolt, then it just pulls out (might need some persuasion as it's probably the one from factory). Dip your finger in the oil and put it on the new one's o-ring just to help it go back in (ease her in  )

I would spend the bit extra and get a genuine sensor, non-OEMs can be so hit and miss!
