hi folks
is there any real massive difference between the rs/cup/trophy?(handling,power etc..)
and if there is(and ofc there is)how noticeable they are?
if i find a good spec and well maintained regular rs should get it or since its regular-breakdealer?

If your going to MOD it just get a std 200t then coilovers and a Map Or if your staying std then a 220t Trophy with the RS monitor on it that's about it really bud iam on my third

I could have spent less and bought a 200T for purely modifying and have a more capable car than my Trophy, but I wanted all the bells and whistles (reversing camera a must for me!) over anything else.
Warranty was also a big thing as I’m Vice Chairman of the Paranoia Club, Chairman being @Jimmy :tongueout:
I also heard that a few niggles were straightened out with the facelift, if that’s true then so be it, but there’s nowt massively wrong, I would have thought, with any Mk4 to be honest.
All depends what you want really - there’s mine and Kev’s progress threads on our 220’s, and @Chris 200T that’s a cracking example of colour, spec and mods.

Very much as above, to be fair I bought mine before the trophy was out, but still looking back, and knowing how my car drives now I'm very happy with it and wouldnt upgrade to a trophy, however without knowing this in advance, id buy the trophy (and be probably miffed that I have to go to belgium to map it)...

As kev said, remap and coilovers youve got a more capable car than the trophy...

In terms of power out the box, the trophy is the better of the cars, the cup chassis doesnt make a huge difference of standard but the trophy does have better suspension out the box than a cup 200t.. but again as above, coilovers sort this right out on the 200t.

ive heard that over the years(13'-17') the gearbox's shifting speed has improved to be faster ,is that correct?
is there any differences between the non cup, cup, trophy? (at this subject)
plus how is the reliabilty on those 4th gen?(gearbox engine etc)

There is a new software on the newer cars, however I've got that in my 2013 now and it is a little faster.

The trophy has a different software altogether (some different actuators or something also) which makes it faster still. No difference between cup and none cup though.

No issues with gearbox/engine that I've heard of. Remap on 200t when above 275lb/ft of torque makes the clutch slip. That's about it...

Think the new gearbox software was implemented in 2015, so the cars before that, but as I said, I have the newer software in my 2013 - they can update it. Was a noticeable difference yes, have a look in my progress thread where I put my thoughts after it was done!

great thx.
btw the software update can be done by rn specialists or only at tuning shops?
