My Mum said something very similar as she has only ever driven diesels that rev to 4k tops. Don't ask why I let her drive my car, but its safe to say she wont be getting back in the Clio! I kept telling her to push on for 5krpm otherwise you cant appreciate the engine, she did, breifly, to which I got the response "that was scary"... (not the reaction I expected)!
