Smaller Wheels???

Just wondering if anyone has put smaller wheels on their Clio?

Do the Clio R3's that go in the forest use 16s?

Cheers Hughsie

R3´s use for gravel smaller brake discs, maybe calipers too, and they use 16s or 15s, I don´t remember correctly tbh.

As said the R3 uses smaller discs, same calipers though IIRC. There is only 5mm clearence on the standard 17" alloys. I wouldn't like to buy some 16's to try and fit them though.

I dont want to stir here but, how do we know they were 16's. On the continent surely they would be measured in metric rather than imperial...

Wheels are universally measured in inches. Metric wheels were experimented with in the 80's and 90's, with little success.

Do you really think your 7.5Jx17 wheels are unique to the UK (they don't have a metric size cast into them), or that our tyres (which don't have a metric dia marked on them) are only used here?

Tyre width in metric but dia in imperial is the universal standard.

Aside from anything else I think the tyre size was visible in the photo.

I am sure most 16" wheels wouldn't fit but some motorsport wheels are built with a lot of brake clearance in mind.
