Spare £60k anyone?

Have to say he does get under my skin too, guess what, he sold it on! As Sean says cu&t

There is so much o like about this pic! The arse end on a v6 exige in the have to have colour, a 500 griff, ceramic kitted ( I think 997tt) and that gt4! Just made and didn't make my day that (

That Exige is a Cup car too. Coolest one to have, especially now Lotus have made the unfortunate but understandable decision to close the Motorsport department.

That wing is a bit ugly though, the new one on the 380 Cup is loads better. Non-standard diffuser looks pretty good though!

You forgot about my Clio with the bonnet up  haha The Exige was mega, didn't see it out on track though! I did see this, which looked great with the carbon aero bits.

Porn. Aero kit on the Elise is bloody awesome huh? A lot of the Lotus guys say the 250 Liz is the one to have from the whole range. It's just right in the Lotus sweet spot.

Had a go in a Toxic Green one. Loved the hell out of it. And a guy I know has a murdered out black one. It's stunning. Mean as hell in the flesh. He's got the Transforged mirrors on it too. Such a massive improvement over the standard Metro ones!

I'm sure a lot of people don't get what all the fuss is about Lotus, but once you drive one, you know. Feels like the car dances around your fingertips and toes and pivots around your backside.

So much Lotus love over here.

Do you not think the current 40-somethings who couldn't afford these back in the day in their late teens - but now can: are effectively holding the prices of such cars artificially high though Jimmy ?

When "we" (Im of that era; but not current financial status i might add !) lose interest in this type / aget
I'm betting these have a limited shelf-life..........

Yeah, you make a very good point, Shuv. I hadn't considered that side of things. I'd imagine they'll always be worth a lot of money because of their rarity and 'off-the-wall' concept, but £60k?? Would a French, V6 hatchback be worth that much to a car collector in a few years...?

I also think it's a poor show when people buy cars (such as the GT4) purely to make a profit - I really, really don't see the point. I agree with Colin's view that if they buy a mint example and keep it that way, because that's what makes them happy, but not these folk who buy a car then immediately make a profit...

But as I mentioned earlier, maybe that's where the 'new money' is going these days - you certainly wouldn't make much off the interest if you put £60k in a bank account for 5 years!!

If I was rich, like really really rich (and possibly a bit mental), this would be mine...

Never 'invest' in something that is at the peak of it's value. These were a good buy at £20k, and possibly a reasonable investment at £30k. But after this you are in really nice car territory. Go on Autotrader and see what you can have for £60k, or rock up at a car auction and do the same.

Thanks for your sagely advice. You've saved me from makin' a right plum of maself...here was me about to spunk £60k on a Clio    Glad you came along.

I wouldn't use AT, there aren't that many of the sort of cars I'd want for £60k on there. Funnily enough I'm in that market right now, so yeah, I'm very aware of what's available.

It's the Internet mate, you may find a bit of tongue in cheek from time to time...

To be perfectly honest mate, if there was a GT4 in my price range, I'd be in one in a flash. But they're still going slightly above list. Funny how there were none available to buy even if you sold your kids yet there are a shed load at inflated prices available on the second hand market... GRRR.

But yeah, it's an Exige all the way. Problem is I want a special edition and they only built a handful so finding one isn't easy. Working on one at the moment but I can't see it coming off. But I want the forged wheels, two piece brakes, carbon seats, extra aero etc so I'm not budging!

Waiting game for now.

 agree wholeheartedly!

IF I get one, I'll put a thread up. The biggest problem is selling the BMW. It's just SO good! And room for four in comfort.

If I wait a couple of years I could have both but I'm not known for my restraint...
