Yiannis' Albi Blue R27 - Toning down...

Cheers for the comments guys!

wow that looks good!

Well if that comes from you Giles - the owner of the most immaculate car in the club - then it must look good lol

Very nice results! :thumbup1:

What's next?

There is an RS tuning mapping gb going on atm so I might join should the price is ideal and then it has to be an exhaust (which if I go for the mapping has to be fitted beforehand or at the same time). New tyres and pads are a necessity and I'm thinking of a sprint spoiler as well. Then front bumper respray alongside other bits to freshen up the exterior:smile:

I think it was about time I updated this thread.

First think first, I did the MAP sensor modification Mark (X82) suggested and to say I'm impressed is an understatement. Not only I can not believe how such a tiny thing affects the car's driveability to such an extend but not for anyone (Renault itself or any Renault speacialists out there) to have yet figured it out? How can Renault missed that in the first place? Personally speaking I didn't have any flatspots to cure as such but the kangarooing is completely gone, the car runs as smooth as it does when up to temp and all that for just the cost of a gasket sealant. Absolutely great story here, thanks again Mark!

Then I sorted that weird sound coming from pressing the throttle when cold (thanks Foxspeed for pointing it out to me).

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FePmZNIeuNk

It came from the breather valve which is located after the throttle body. Apparently the O-rings had gone and allowed some air to pass hence the sound, when warmed up though they'd expand and seal the valve properly. All I had to do is simply replace the buggers, another £5 fix.

You probably noticed that I also blanked it, that was because I decided to fit an oil catch tank after seeing how much oil is accumulated in there (thanks Angel for supplying, great bit of kit). I obviously vented it in the air (I did lose some sleep in the beginning - ruining the environment and all that - but it only lasted 2 secs) therefore I had to blank the valve. The only logical place to fit it was by the windscreen wash bottle, it wouldn't fit anywhere else and as they say, ''if it don't fit don't force it'' We had to appropriately modify the bracket that came with the tank so as to suit out purposes and also use a bolt with a thin head so as to squeeze it in between the bumper trim. We tried to make it look as stock as possible, I don't know if we succeeded but I'm happy nevertheless.

Irrelevant pic but that's my mate's (the one who helped me fit the tank) Caterham, wankel engine with throttle bodies!

Then I got a slightly used pair of RC6s from BenW in here, ideal for the next couple of track days and for next year's Alpine trip:wink:

And last but definitely not least, Akrapovic Evo. I got that from BenW as well, brand new middle section while the rest of the exhaust parts have covered around 15k miles. I'm fitting the new part on Friday so review and more pics to come:smile: We all know how it looks like but a couple of pics regardless. It is pure porn anyway!!

Looking good Yiannis, Obviously the Carbon Fibre catch tank is the best thing since sliced bread.

Although the TPI bolts transform the wheels and you'll love the RC6's

Obviously right??? That were exactly my thoughts!!

Yes, I can't wait to try out the pads...

btw do you know any people who make exhausts? I'd like to make a couple of tips for my 197 diffuser, I can't bring myself to cut the exhaust so as to achieve the old 197 look...:worried: even though I'd love to

14 x 1.50 28mm Tapered 17 Hex (pack of 16)
4 x 1.50 28mm Black Eco Lock Bolt 17/18 Hex (pack of 4)*

I got them from Revolution 247 for £44.98 delivered. You have to ring them to order because they are not on the website.*

They use a standard 17 socket, even though they all look like security bolts. The Eco lock bolts are security bolts tho.
