Various pics of my C3RS "Sport Auto Edition"

Very nice have you tracked it much since you have owned it

No, actually not at all. I planned a trip to the Ring but that is postponed until next year. But we made a nice guided tour during the "RS Days" which was a blast!

Second set of wheels for the colder times.

Stunning car! So is 'Sport Auto' a car magazine in Germany? The logo looks like it could be from a magazine - it's a similar logo to some car mags we have in the UK.

Thanks! Yes, you're right. It's a German car magazine which has some special relation with Renault. From what I know it's already their second project with them. The first one was a limited Megane Sport Trophy "Sport Auto Edition" (50 cars). The 99 Clios are actually part of the 666 cars from the "Ange & Demon" series. There should be 567 A&Ds plus 99 SAEs from what I know.

Great stuff, thanks for clarifying! When I first read Sport Auto, I assumed it was in relation to the gearbox, which would have made no sense whatsoever  but when I saw the logo on the plaque, I thought it might be a magazine-related edition!

I'd actually expected this info would have made it across the channel already. Seems it didn't so far.

I personally hadn't heard of the SAE, however I knew of the Ange & Demon editions - I believe a member on here has one. Also the Red Bull editions I'd heard of from Europe. In the UK we have the Raider version, as you've seen, and also a Silverstone edition of the 200

So, "Raider" is really a name for an other special edition and not just a nick? If so do you know how many of them were built?

Some additional infos about the SAE. It's basically an A&D without the badge. It wasn't configurable like the A&D and always came with full options except seat heating and parking assistance/distance control. The Sport Auto magazine actually wanted to have a differential for it but Renault Sport unfortunately said no.

Yes it's the official name. I think it was 50 in total, so they are very rare. As well as the grey paintwork, they also did one in matte red too, within the same 50.

I think a differential would have been a very popular option on the mk3 RS! I know some of the guys who have done the Megane turbo engine conversion have gone with a diff, as well as people with just the Clio engine too!

Ok, thanks. This info didn't made it over here so far. The A&Ds where available in matt grey, red and white but the overwhelming part of them where ordered in grey from what I know. The SAE only came in grey.

Yes, some have retrofitted them. There's a nice video on the tube with an (Australian IIRC) C3RS that has one fitted and pulls away from a Golf GTI on a twisted country road.

Btw, when I read mk3 I always think of Escorts. Think I've to get used to it.
