Silverstone GP progress thread!

So, here is my Silverstone GP (36/50) Fully loaded with a limited paint scheme, she's abit of a minter! Photo below is the day I first got it and gave it a good days detail.

Instead of constantly updating my gallery I thought I'd start a progress thread for future reference and for any interested  this could be A long one...

Picked up the car up last year with most things done, Exhaust Flexi's, Cambelt etc etc. 2017 was made to enjoy it, out handling all my mates Golf's and Polo's!

Come 2018- Gettin' busy!

January 2019, New oil filter, oil, gearbox oil, brake fluid... your general new years stuff!

Few weeks back I decided to repair the Recaro's as they had just started to wear through on the bolsters however I stumbled across some leather and alcantara Recaro for sale and the deal was done- complete with a lower seat base. Anybody would agree that the standard Recaro seat position is too high, to drop it about 4cm makes a massive difference and one I would really recommend. (some will have already seen the photo's but they are just too good not to post again!!)

The 'beast from the east' made an appearance, froze all the calipers and just played havoc while trying to daily the Clio but that's in the past and spring is here!! Car in the garage for post winter inspection...

Rusted sh@*tted up subframe, one broken track rod and a bent exhaust heat shield. Not bad. Above is the rusted subframe- the undertray had 2 missing bolts thus allowing water to build inside the tray and weigh it down enough to create a pool of water for the subframe to rot in.. thankfully no other damage however catching it at 42,000miles may be the best decision I ever make before it got any worse. wire brush, hammerite rust prevention and a lick of paint and its good as new-ish. Currently awaiting Mr Postman now with- 2 Track rods, Michelin Pilot Super Sports, Brembo Discs and DS2500 pads all round for a fast road set up and an Umbro jumper too look cool in :tearsofjoy::sunglasses:

Will keep this updated as the car goes on and I find more stuff to buy and more stuff to take back to factory standards.

Maintenance is key! Great looking car there, well worth holding onto with all of the nice options on it, and the seats are epic!
Enjoy your fast road setup, I've just done the same with mine - are you doing the fluid whilst you're at it?

The first proper warm sunny day of spring was intended for fitting the big mountain of parts to be fitted. However... A recent trip to A&E left us hobbling about to the house. So I just spent the day prepping and painting the the ends of the cup spoiler. Could never justify the price of carbon end plates so I wanted as similar a finish to them...IMG_20180405_150344.jpg IMG_20180405_154951.jpg IMG_20180405_172903.jpg

Not a bad job for some spray cans and a few hours. Roll on next week for more interesting stuff happening :blush:

Some what of a productive week but more problems earthed than first expected

First job for the week was new rear discs, pads and abit of caliper touch up. Some decontamination too!

Recent winter woes resulted in a sticking caliper so new handbrake cable in, no luck so a new caliper is on order. Same story with the other caliper so a new handbrake cable again...possibly a new caliper there too. Money pit is starting to spring to mind :grimacing:

New track rod 'n' tie rods fitted and all tracked and alignment done-admittly done at a garage! So much easier as it had to be tracked anyway.

First summer-ish day today so a big big detail was in order. 8 hours later and it's immaculate!! Proper immaculate!! Snow foam, Iron out, 2 bucket wash, clay, glaze, light amount of polish, seal and wax. Then the finer details-Exhaust tips polished, glass, Rain X, wheels cleaned, and waxeIMG_20180414_184140.jpg
More to do next week but it's nice owning a car with 40,000+ miles and it feeling factory fresh. Anyway... Roll on next week :relaxed::relaxed:
