Lewis's RB Clio 197

Right. Been on here a few months now and have had the Clio since April and a lot has been changed since then. So this will be a long old start to the thread [emoji23]

After searching for months for a clio and travelling from the bottom of the country to manchester to view a lovely 200 and still not buy it. I eventually bought this RB 197 (with my old C2 in the photos)

Anyways. Came with a couple changes such as a headunit and 20mm spacers. (Which I later found were non hub-centric. ‍♂️)

Swapped them out.

Went to ktec for a service and discovered some issues

- play in OSF shock?
- both lower swivel joints needing replaced
- thermostat weak
- 3rd gear synchros (only I could search for months and end up buying a car that has a crunchy gearbox) god knows why I did [emoji23] doesn't change the fact I love it though! [emoji102]

Changed my thermostat and while I was in there fitted a powerflex gearbox mount. A few weeks before hand had fitted the torque mount and dogbone inserts.

Ditched the t1r ditch finders for some pilot sport 4s after some scary wet incidents.

Both lower ball joints were changed for uprated ones from raptor on here[emoji106]

Still have a knock which I assume is the shock. Will be getting changed aswell as the top mount, anti rotation links and drop links. (To keep everything fresh)

Don't have many photos of other things but I've also resprayed the nostril grills gloss black as they were a bit faded. Much better imo.

Have also changed the exhaust out for a ktec Res cat back system and the sound is unreal [emoji7] will post up videos at some point!

Need to ditch the horribly fitted cupra splitter also as I'm not a fan.

The car has also driven me to french car show 2018 and to the Netherlands, to the ring, through Belgium and France then home just last week also!

Had a blast with it over these past four months

Stick around as there's a lot more to come! Many plans and little niggly bits I want to sort!

Cheers! [emoji106]

I also forgot to mention but when installing the exhaust I also discovered the car sits on H&R lowering springs!

Very nice, was gonna say it looks lower than standard!
Yeah I had always wondered! But wasn't sure if it was the spacers giving the illusion it was by filling the arches! Safe to say I was pretty happy to find it was done already done [emoji106] saves me spending the extra [emoji6]

Nice example..glad she has been to the ring..those photos never get old..
Happy with the suspension set up?
Yes mate! Handles fantastically, even with the shock needing replacing. I'm hoping that once I change them bits and get it aligned it'll drive a lot better? It likes to tramline and bumpsteer a lot at the moment [emoji849]

can get a bit harsh on bumpy roads like. But it doesn't bother me too much as the C2 was on cheap eBay coilovers.

I was set on getting B14's soonish but knowing that I've got these I can hold off with them and get some other bits done [emoji4]

Not really an update or anything but I wrapped the dash trim in some CF wrap a mate had lying round because the grey was looking a bit tired as a temporary measure until I decide what I actually want to do with them.

You may also notice the box with car parts in and a very very sad gearknob (after a Laguna one)f1d35a0412035e73f79da34f0e0125f9.jpg

Busy weekend for me this week, clean the car, parts to go on, rear seats to come out, bit of spraying to do haha! Looking forward to the end result though :blackdiamond: Big Hint

Looks great, I love Racing Blue. I wanted one but couldn't find one and settled for Albi Blue.

Was this car advertised on eBay by chance? I seem to remember seeing the splitter and thinking it looked good! Whys it horribly fitted?

Thanks mate! Appreciate it  RB is an amazing colour to be fair! stands out all the time haha! i love it, despite the fact it needs a real good polish as its so swirly. Albi looks amazing when polished up though.

I think it was actually, based in swindon. I saw the ad on Gumtree and autotrader. I'll have to take some pictures to show you what i mean mate as it seems like its unclipped and everyone mentions it to me :worried: haha

Thats a shame, it looks good from the odd photos you've put up but I spose looking closer it may be noticeable. Just like the standard ones when they sag, just looks awful. Im stuck on ideas for splitters, dont want some massive ice scraper on the front catching everything but also want it to look good and not add any real weight over the original which is essentially just a bit of flexible rubber. Any weight that can be saved properly is a bonus in my eyes and I doubt any of the splitters actually do anything for handling or downforce.

Yeah exactly mate, from a distance it looks okay! hahaha.

I've only removed part of the rear seats in way of weight reduction :tearsofjoy: Plan to get a carpet in the back there at some point, wanna make it look a bit race car but nice and clean/ dailyable inside

Theres lots of little things Ive done/removed which sadly, I have weighed along the way and has made zero difference to the way the car works/noise factors but has saved almost 20kg. I did remove the rear seats but feel more weight needs to be removed from the front of the car and it felt a little unbalanced so put them back in. Maybe Im reading too much into it! I would welcome a 200 Cup rear bench though, save another 5KG without sacrificing useability.

Things like remove the rear wiper and motor, remove the roof grab handles and use OEM blanks, gutted the acoustic valve, removed foglights and wiring, Cup interior lights, odd bits of sound insulation here and there, 200 Cup alloys, remove the ISOfix bar, gutted the acoustic valve, blanked Xenon headlights, etc. Even simplified brackets for hoses in the engine bay. Sounds complicated but most of it is just tinkering. I have some Cup doorcards which might save another half a KG, not a lot but all adds up. Changing the OEM exhaust will save another 5-7kg too.

I suppose if you count the exhaust too then i've removed weight there with my KTEC one  Yeah i still need to get the isofix bar out to be honest. Maybe, just maybe one day i might get some nice fixed buckets if i have no rear seats as i've heard recaros are quite heavy but i love them too much at the moment. They don't get uncomfortable on long journeys and they're so hugging. I just don't need the recliner ability tbh.

I would like to remove some bits of weight here and there but as i said it is a daily after all and i don't want it to become too uncomofortable or noisy haha.

When you say gutted the acoustic valve, how have you done that? did it increase induction noise at all?
