Hiya guys...

Hiya guys, hope you're all well

New to the forum so thought I'd pop in and say hello, just taken delivery of my 197 Cup, apart from the gearbox being abit of a pain, I absolutely love everything else about it

My first 197 but certainly not new to the Renault scene, previously a mod on Clio16valver and used to frequent many other forums, Cliosport, Williamsclio ect so a few members MAY recognise the username

Anyways, thought I'd say hello

Oooo and if anybody could advise me on how to use the for sale section that would be great, currently saying I don't have permission, I'm assuming I may have to make so many posts or get clearance from admin perhaps, but I'm after a few bits

Cheers guys
Dan

Welcome aboard. £5 for a years membership gets you access to all sections of the forum including the for sale section. Money well spent

Welcome aboard... best looking colour without a doubt! Although I’m biased

Cheers Beany . May sound like a really silly question, but which colour is it exactly? I'm looking for a cup spoiler at the minute, but wanna make sure I'm looking for the right one, and I know there are a few blues

Welcome in Dan. I think you'll find this a friendly place with good advice & plenty of banter. Enjoy the car. Any plans for it apart from spoiler?

Welcome :french: and thanks for becoming a paid member.
Do you have any other clios or just the 197? Always loved the phase 1 valvers/williams.

Well, I got the car Sunday, had pretty naff tyres, so have already fit some Pilot sport 4s all round, also have the Oreca group N exhaust system to go on, and I'd also love a Cae shifter, but that may have to wait haha

Thanks mate , I don't any more, and wish I had kept some of my other valvers, they seem to be mega money now if you can find one, had a long list of Renault's though

1 5GTT
1 Valver engined 1.2
14 valvers
1 Williams 2
1 F4R engined valver (PAJ)
1 172
And LY Mégane R26 #239
And a few diesel Meganes

So yeah, had a few haha

Welcome to the forum, Dan! The gearbox needs some care and persuasion, but it will be your best friend when you treat it right

Hope you enjoy this forum, with you being a regular on them!

Cheers Jimmy , been a fair few years since I've actually been an active member on a forum, seemed most pages moved over to Facebook, but as I don't use Facebook, I'd rather be somewhere like here anyway

Ha yeah the gearbox, it's awesome when the car is warm, bit honhonestly almost feels like I'm bending the gearstick trying to get it into first or reverse when cold, sure I'll get the hang of it in time

Welcome along, it may be worth flushing the box with some new oil, Elf Tranself or if you’re feeling generous Fuchs Titan (can’t remember the exact grade) is a popular choice. They’re great cars but they do demand some TLC.

Yeah lots of popular FB pages springing up, but as you're like me and don't use it, a good forum is the best place to be

As Adam says, a change of gearbox oil can make a big difference, and it's worthwhile doing at least once a year. Other than that, a bit of patience when it's cold can also help
