afternoon all, i have a issue with my clio 197 56 plate its non starting, last week i removed the battery to get a family members car started that had been sitting around for a few months and when i refitted the battery it was fine started no problem, later that night i went to the shops and when i came out it cranked over 4/5 times before it started then was fine no warning lights or any issues. when i came out to the car the next morning it wouldn't start would just crank, i got my snap on computer on to check for fault codes there are no codes stored in any of the modules. i have checked the fuel pump with my volt meter and its fine i am getting fuel up to the injector rail with ignition on. i checked and i am not getting a spark and noticed i have no crankshaft position signal detected on the computer i replaced the crankshaft position sensor and still not getting a signal so i checked the wiring back to the ecu and the wiring is ok, i noticed i have no cam sensor signal either so think the issue is not just related to the crank signal, when i was checking the multi plugs at the ecu for any corrosion and checked the pin grips at the ecu where all ok, after checking the pin grips the car started and ran for about 40 minutes took it a road test and it cut out, still no fault codes present. i have cleaned and checked all earth wires on the engine and gearbox. the engine immobiliser is not on when i turn the ignition on red light comes on then goes off and on computer shows inactive. i did notice on data logger for the column/pas it states immobiliser signal missing. i don't know anyone with a Renault clip. has anyone had a similar issue to this ? thanks

Do the lights etc. dim when cranking over? If so the battery is dead. Mine died last week, original battery was 13yrs old, similar symptom I took battery off to fit a new manifold and a few days later it gave up the ghost (don't think they like being open circuit after a certain age). Got a bargain one from carparts4less with discount code SUMMER16 iirc, cost about £60.

Battery is definitely ok I have checked the battery and had it on a charger when cranking. The car cranks/turns over no problem at all. Thanks
