Spax coilovers

I had SPAX coilovers on my CRX and they were great. Good build quality and excellent performance.

Can't say I've heard of anyone fitting them to a Clio though.

I bet they are like wet flannels. Just buy some kw's and have done with it

I had spax adjustable dampers and springs on my old car, they handled well but ride comfort was shocking and they were either good at low speed or good at high speed, damping was impossible to get right and high and low speed.

I wouldn't buy spax again.

No no u got me wrong im a firm believer in buy cheap buy twice. Coilovers are coilovers at end of day but i wudnt spend money to get less than cup siluspension already offers.

Bilstein also do coilovers, anyone tried them?

ive been looking into this as demon tweeks state they do a set for the 197, but i do beleive they are wrong as ive trailered other sites and been on bilsteins own site and they only do coilovers for the 138hp 2.0l 16v model (ie dynamic s/gt versions) so i think thats a mistake on demon tweeks behalf, but just in case i have emailed bilstein asking the question.

Its a little harsh to discount the SPAX when nobody has any experience with them. You never know what they'll be like. Personally I wouldn't fancy being the guinea pig though

With regards the bilsteins, don't the clio cup racers use bilstein shocks and H&R springs (or vis versa?)

Yep h&r coilovers are bilstein shocks and h&r springs. This has been covered in other threads!!! And yep same as Clio cup racers

I've had SPAX on two previous cars (106 Rallye & Seicento Sporting), didn't have any issues with them. They were a bugger to get the setup right, but once I found a happy medium they were very good considering they were a bit cheaper than the Bilstein equivalent for both cars. I'd say that the softest damping setting was still quite harsh and on the road if you ran them on their hardest setting it was a very jolty ride. Great on track though.
