Remember the 197 didnt do too well with reviewers at first. The facelift (200) was the one that scooped all the awards. The same will happen here.

The ST is essentially a Zetec-S with a 1.6T engine and disc brakes on the rear (And gawping great fish face) which has been out for how long? 4 years?. It'll take Renault a while to iron out the 200EDC issues.

Seconded. This is their first bash at a Clio Turbo, they probably wont get it right first time.

Interesting that the Fiesta ST2 has 278mm brake discs only?? yet both the Clio and 208 feel the need to have over 300mm brake discs?

What does that say about the performance, the pads they are using and does anyone know if the ST2 has 4pots or even stops half as well? its 41KG ligher than the Clio I understand but its 3KG heavier than the 208?? Somethings not right there!

Am surprised that they don't offer F1 addition on the new Clio, how had would it be 4 paint jobs and some decals, throw in Recaro's done

How the road car should have looked...

Might go take a sneak peak seeing as Pyro is a couple of miles from my house.

That's my point. There is no option for the cup spoiler which is my opinion makes it look loads better. Lowering obviously isn't an issue but there should be a cup version that comes lowered.

Picking the cup option does lower the car though?

As for the spoiler. The cup wasnt an option when the first MK3 RS' came out so this is no different.

Give Renault a break FFS. They have launched a new car and tried "new technology". Give them time and the EDC will be great.

IMO, still looks gash, fully agree with NOddie on the spoiler.

It will get there, no doubt it will eventually be a great car, however just not for me.

Been thinking the same recently, 200's out of warranty now and I might still go for a test drive if I can but.... it's still just not quite doing it for me in any way.

Hopefully the mk4 ph2 will bring some better brakes and some improved looks. I've had my 200 3 years now and even though they're still not exactly a masterpiece of curves and beauty in comparison to the mk4 it's divine! :tongueout:

Oh and while I'm sure the ST is and would be a great car, I just don't think I could buy a ford.......

Add the cup spoiler, spray the defuser mat black both front and back, lower it a bit and get some 18" on and am sure it will improve the looks no end

Evo slaughtered the new Clio!

Damn..the new Clio has been placed 4th in their group test!
Above a Nissan juke but below the Peugeot 208, the mini n the new fiesta St, which won!
Their quote was from hero to zero..grrr
And the strangest thing for me was that the new Clio weighed in at 1294 kgs, heavier than the bleeding juke!
So much for 1204 kgs.

But your looking at buying another Renault? I wouldn't think twice about buying the new Fiesta if its the "better" car. My mk4 zetec was a fantastic car, and my mk5 fiesta SportVan (zetec s Tdci) is now on 98k miles without a single rattle or component failure. In fact it still feels more solid than my Clio which has 1/3 the mileage.

Why am I not surprised here? And we are all aware of EVO's praise for the mk3...

I have to admit though, I knew it'd be bad but I wasn't expecting it to be that bad, below 208??? Fail.

Not that i was thinking ever buying it, far from that...

I wasn't implying they were crap cars, just that their 'Hot' models tend to attract a certain subculture of individuals.

This will be my last venture with a Renaultsport. Don't think the new clio is a bad car, just not for me. I'll be looking for something a little more grown up and less girlie. All the hatches seem to have lost their edgeyness. I'm not sure where the masculine cars are now...?

They've had Meg engines put in them mate
