trackday & exhaust

what exhaust is best for track days to compromise between noise restriction and performance?

would a non resonated system with a de-cat or sports cat be too loud?

is a sport cat is fitted is a remap required?

i assume with the decat a remap is definitely required?

looking at the scorpion website the best power gains are from non-resonated exhaust. if i were to get a resonated system the power gains are minimal and the weight saving much less so not really worth while for what i want.

i dont want anything too noisy or intrusive. ive got a non-res milltek on my mk6 golf GTI and it sounds spot on. not noisy at all

i want something that sounds a little better but not noisy or intrusive but mainly after weight saving and performance gains.

the milltek seems good on my golf but i would consider any make. the scorpion actually looks pretty good and is a decent price.

what set-up are people running on track day cars which are also used on the road?

thanks

You got to bare in mind that the turbo on your git will act as a surpressor

A lot comes down to price you want to pay

Akrapovic is as the top end of your budget at 1100. Supersprint do some cracking systems too but still quite pricey

Then you are into the realms of scorpion, miltek, ktec and oreca

2nd cat delete with a mid bot will give a good balance of rasp and subtlety

Just my 2 pence worth

is a non resonated with sport cat noisy?

i really dont want the boy racer noise and dont want to p!ss the whole village off or get black flagged

My akroprovic measures between 85-86 decibels for static testing.
Easily meets all standards for all tracks.
But inside the car it screams like a banshee!
Best of both worlds 8)

wouldn't pay £1100 for a car exhaust. im sure they excellent quality but thats a lot for 1-2bhp

i had nothing but akra's on my race bikes and paid £1400 for some of them but cant justify it on a car really.

do they have a sport cat or are they just cat back?

been looking at TDF and they look good value and seem to get good reviews. not sure how loud it would be with a decat or sport cat

With a decay bloody loud, with a sports cat, nicely loud. The tdf exhaust has got a bit of a drone to it but its louder inside the car than it is out.

so a resonated with sport cat is the way to go you reckon?

think that should save around 10kg and give a few bhp. scorpion reckon 4bhp or so.

every car is different mate so until you fit whatever exhaust you go for you won't know if it needs mapping or not with regards to the flat spot.....technically a car should be mapped after every mod to get the best out of it really

after reading what you want i'd suggest leaving the car stanard, but if you really want a nicer note i'd go for the milltek, they are the quietest sports exhaust for the clio ime

To be honest I don't want any more noise than standard but I would like the weight saving and some added performance.

CL10 JAD has a tdf with a sports cat on his LY and it's sounds spot on and to be honest me and dcidoble are going for the same exhaust set up because it really is spot on
