pulled over

Enjoying an evening drive out with the other half last night. Always mindful of speed limits nowadays as on 9 points!

Might have 'enjoyed' a couple of roundabouts on the way back and then saw a police car in my rear view. Pulled us over and then gave me a right dressing down for speeding! Just a warning.

A little bit miffed to say the least. Might have been a couple of miles an hour out at most but in no way was I speeding or causing a hazard (combo of 40, 50 and 60 mphs). Also the copper who spoke to me said I had passed a cyclist and could have endangered them. I would swear on my life that I had not passed any cyclists in the last few miles and when I told the mrs this when I got back in the car she wanted to get out and remonstrate with them saying it was tosh and they'd made it up.

First time I've been pulled over in years and simply took the dressing down despite me saying that I wasn't aware that I'd exceeded the limit.

Was it just that they were envious of our roundabout ability in comparison with their peugout?

If I were you I think I'd have been happy with a telling off and leave it there. Assume as you went out for an evening drive and enjoyed a couple of roundabouts, that at various point you were speeding (as do most of us). So, with 9 points at present, once more and bye bye licence?

Evidence of you speeding? Video?

And for that matter you "endangering" this cyclist?

Perhaps this is why you were only given a telling off - if they don't have evidence of you actually doing anything wrong then surely there isn't a great deal they can do, apart from giving you a dressing down??

But surely our good old BIB wouldn't just pull someone over because of a stereotype....:glare:

They may also say about the non existent cyclist to make you think a little more? try and play mind tricks etc.

I'd take it on the chin listen to what they say even if you weren't doing what they said its still a reminder and get on with life. Police are there to provide education etc..

This is why I have two go pro's mounted front and rear in my car at all times. I got out of 6 points a copper gave me for dangerous driving/being in the wrong lane. The copper had been tailgating me a good 20 miles through country roads. I took them to court and used my video evidence to show they were pressuring me into a mistake
