Car not starting

Hoping someone can help me out, or point me in the right direction. I’ve got a 197 that’s been sitting for a while. I had the brake pads all re done and since then the brakes have been weird, they don’t press down very well, I assume the brakes need new fluid or repressureised? Then I have a second issue, which I’m not sure is linked to the brakes, but the car won’t start or attempt to turn over. The battery had went dead after sitting or so long, so I re charged it and put it back in. The car now lights up with quite a few warning lights and displays the message “steering not locked”. I’ve googled and tried few things, but no joy so far, which bring me to the experts (yourselves lol). Any help would most likely save me having an aneurysm

I would replace battery. A dead battery never fully recovers. How long has the car been sitting for? When was the brake fluid last changed?

+1 for battery being duff, also if engine isn't running they'll be no servo assist so is that what your referring to with brakes?

That’s for the reply. The engine started after the brakes were changed, the battery was ok at that point, but the brakes still felt quite stiff on the peddle. The not starting problem has all came about since the battery has been charged. Would you say I’m better off buying a new one and going from there?

was anything done with the manifold as it sounds like the starter fuse has went normally when the heat shield has touched the positive terminals on the starter. Check the fuse box behind the passenger headlight for blown fuses. Why not sign up to the forum its £5 and you get access to the how to section as for joining you have a few problems. What's the story on the VVT error you had in January 2017.
