Help! Need to source a new exhaust manifold (2018)

Hey guys, new to the site. I drive a black '07 197, and its MOT is due next week. Over the past couple of weeks I noticed a rattling noise under acceleration, and the garage have advised the exhaust manifold is leaking and needs replacing.

I have been quoted £1,200 from Renault, but even they suggested I go aftermarket.

After searching through the forums I noticed the two most commonly quoted manifolds are Torosports and K-Tec, but I am looking for relevant examples, and retailers for 2018. I am unable to contact Torosports (gone out of business?) and dont want to spend £600+.

So here we go, does anyone know where to get a fairly decent exhaust manifold nowadays? Nothing on eBay or Gumtree that I have seen...

Many thanks!

Ollie

Search for Toyosports may bring up more results

Still going after a google...

https://www.toyosports.co.uk/renault-109-c.asp

Manifold not listed though...

Useless service then
Sounds to me like they've gone bust.

Historically seems like people used to go for Toyosports but I feel like nowadays its harder to get parts for the 197.

Messaged a guy on the group who says he has a used Toyo so hoping for the best. cheers guys

Toyosports appear to be the same as Direnza. The Toyosports ones are hit and miss, some say they drop power due to flowing poorly. If you want to decat I would be tempted to fix the original manifold (they crack around the block mounts) and replace the flexi's whilst out. Cut the cat off and get a Y pipe attached. Maybe a bit more expensive than the Toyosports option.

Or, if you want to look at increasing power look at a Predator or KTEC manifold, both will be better quality that Toyosports and both seem to regularly give decent increases when mapped in.

Thanks a lot mate,

I found someone on the fb group who is breaking a 197, and managed to get the toyo manifold for £50, best I can do atm. Going to hand it over to the garage, they're going to replace it. I am a bit concerned about the need for bushes, mounts and knocking on the subframe?

Also, I found a local specialist who is willing to buy the damaged OEM part for £40

Keep it and get it repaired there is a technique to the repair not a matter of just welding a new one on as it can change the shape and cause more fitting/ clearance problems they need braced during the process so they don't distort when the old flexi is removed and the flexi is not cut out leaving the gap too sort and the new flexi's are not so fat that they touch each other. My spare was repaired by an exhaust specialist for under £50. And make sure the garage fitting it are aware of the things to look for I've changed on myself and or member from Finland Antti O had a problem but we managed to help him fix it

Just fitted toyo few weeks ago, can be bought on eBay and don’t need eBay account.

No power loss, just get ready for all sorts of creaks and knocks that were never there before..

Thanks for the info, I have contacted my specialist for an OEM replacement, but they wont have any available until Christmas. I think I am going fit the Toyo one now, as the MOT is due this week. Is I encounter some issues as ec123 states (which appear to be fairly common), then I will replace it with an OEM manifold in the new year.

Cheers,

Ollie

For what it's worth, my oem exhaust manifold welds failed during the 3 month warranty period I had from the dealer. They got it repaired by an engineering firm and (touch wood) I haven't had any issues with it since. Even after 3 track days.

There is two genuine used ones on eBay at the moment prime for repair so then its a straight swap out come the time without waiting. But remember to look at the engine and gearbox supports to make sure the movement from them did not speed up or overwork the manifold flexi.
