Fair enough, most of the servicing on these cars is bolt on, bolt off. However it's a ridiculously tight engine bay and things I would assume are simple, turn out to be frustratingly fiddly! So if you have limited patience, some jobs will not be suitable for DIY! I changed my thermostat this...

Welcome! Hope you get the various bits and pieces sorted soon. I also have replaced lower Engine and torque arm bush with uprated mounts, so know what you mean about savage vibrations, I love it too! Feels like a race car lol. These cars do need a bit of TLC, but you can do most of it yourself...

I currently have the same issue. Not using the car at the moment so just stuck a piece of cardboard over the engine block to prevent any further water ingress. Need to replace my ignition coils and find a bonnet insulation sheet to install. Anyone know if the 197 will fit?

It's a standard 200 so has the insulation. Every time I open the bonnet there seems to be water and/or oil sitting on the block just behind the coil pencils. The rubber coil seals have seen better days as well so might try and source replacements to stop it happening again. Probably washer jet...

Update - issue resolved! Changed all 4 spark plugs now it's running beautifully Old ones were covered in crud. All good now

NickD - that is absolutely savage mileage and must be applauded, bravo.

There will be some looked after cars at that sort of mileage but a lot of lemons as well. If you find one that's average I'd recommend you budget £500-£1200 a year on servicing and repairs, depending on how much you're willing to do yourself and mileage etc. Make sure you check for regular oil...

Hi Turkie, I suspect it may well be the coil packs, am I right in saying there's 1 pack per cylinder? Will check for any water/oil in the spark plug housing when I change em tomorrow, is there anything else I should be looking for? Turning into a bit of a nightmare! Just hope it's something...

All fitted today. Although the car still feels and sounds like it's running on 3 cylinders! Going to change spark plugs tomorrow, if that doesn't work it will have to go for a diagnostic test the misery continues!

Manifold has arrived from Tony Banks! Looks to be a decent flexi replacement and weld, should be good for a while. Just waiting for powerflex mounts to turn up before taking for fitting.

Refurbished manifold arriving next week from Tony Banks Exhaust. I've got some powerflex mounts on order as well to try and stop it happening again! Should be back on the road soon

Thanks for all the advice, I may have found a company in Leeds (Tony Banks Exhaust) that can send me a refurbished OEM one and I send back my split one in an exchange scheme. Sounds like a good idea to me, just waiting on their courier quote. I am also tempted with Toyosport and new engine...

Hi Suj, I'm in East Kent. Ren7oaks are closest, and are happy to fit a replacement (they've done a few before). So I just need to source the part now. Few on eBay so might have to take the plunge and hope the seller is honest about the condition.
