    Josh’s DB197 Project

Cheers Jimmy appreciated :) Once you get stuck into these jobs it just becomes nuts and bolts but I tend to find the thought of it more daunting/offputting than once you get going! New lambda sensor fitted and alignment now done. The compbrake topmounts maxed out gave me a perfectly even...

    Josh’s DB197 Project

All went ok yeah, no real stubborn bolts or anything just a time consuming job rolling around on your back! Anyway, car runs like a bag of shit. Particularly on cold start it is completely undrivable, tries to stall. Get a load of misfire/splutter at 3-4K rpm. Primary lambda must have been...

All done! Big job all in one go really: Clutch & flywheel Manifold Crank pulley Polybush wishbones and new wishbone ball joints Compbrake top mounts Track rod ends and arms The OEM wishbone bush steel collars were a pain to get out of the ally wishbones without a press but got there in the...

    Josh’s DB197 Project

Well yesterday was fun! Everything came apart smoothly but for some stupid reason the lambda and other wiring going to the rear of the car were BETWEEN the anti roll bar and subframe! Anyway managed to get clutch and TTV flywheel fitted, bolted on the Toyo mani and did the crank pulley from...

Hopped out of supersports onto an MT09 mate, far more usable on the road!

    Jimmy's Deep Black R27 no.243 - Goodbye kid, it's been a blast.

Glad you’ve no regrets Jimmy, it was definitely the right decision by the sounds of it. Bikes change your entire views on ‘fast’ cars anyway! Do you have a first bike planned??

Thanks Lewis, honestly so far I’m really pleased with them. They ride firm but not back breaking for daily use and are generally compliant on the road. No clanking springs or other annoying noises - as yet not tested on track and only time will tell on the durability!

    Josh’s DB197 Project

Nice little collection of bits here now I’m back from a holiday in Italy!! TTV flywheel and crank pulley from Rene - these two combined I’m REALLY interested in seeing how it affects things. Compbrake adjustable top mounts, OEM inner and outer track rods and of course my Toyo manifold! Dyno...

One way or another I’ll sort it dude, I’m hoping the track rods and bush will sort it out :) Today I got her on the dyno for the first time at Performance Engineering in Cardiff, made 192bhp / 210nm torque. About where I thought it would be considering I have catback and primary decat and...

    Josh’s DB197 Project

Cheers mate and please to see the R27 has sold - bittersweet for you but hope you got a price you were happy with. Not really, I’ve ordered OEM track rods and ends and will replace the steering rack bush also. If that doesn’t cure it it pretty much leaves just the rack - it’s a weird one as...

    Josh’s DB197 Project

Yeah I was never really governed by a budget when shopping around for a 197 which was nice but I got such a steal on the car I went for it, in a way glad I didn’t get an R27 as I’d have wanted to keep that standard and immaculate however an ordinary 197 is fair game for eventual stripping out...

Steering issues in fast left handers

Hi all, Strange issue plaguing my 197...only noticeable in fast left hand bends, it’s like a strange tugging at the wheel where you can feel almost the steering angle changing whilst the wheel is held still! Quite unnnerving and right handers are ok. Swivel joints feel ok, track rod end ball...

    The Definitive What Wheels Thread...

Slightly as it’s a bit low on coilovers, would be fine if you’re on springs. The 225 tyre is the most likely cause. Bit of front camber should sort it I think.

    Josh’s DB197 Project

No issues so far Sean, they are mega low I am running mine about 3/4 way up on the front mainly due to offset/tyre combo but will lower the front a little more one the camber mounts arrive and get fitted. Feel nice and firm but not overly harsh - time will tell with these I think, I certainly...

    Josh’s DB197 Project

Thanks! I have see that RSUK advertised but one thing I wasn't too sure on is if non Renault Sports are allowed along also? I have a couple of mates in M cars who'd tag along also. The Federals are very good so far - not too scary in the wet which is a good thing as I daily the car at the...
