Just to finish this thread off, changing the dampers and top mounts solved the clonk problem

I bought some new damper struts and top mounts with a view to changing them over. I've changed quite a few struts in the past on other cars but i've got to admit defeat with this clio. When you take the pinch bolt out to drop the hub away from the strut it doesn't go down far enough to withdraw...

Hello, Thought i'd introduce myself, I've just bought a 10 Plate blue FF 200 with 62K miles. The wife needed a runabout for a few months, used some man maths to convince her a renault sport clio was the best choice and got away with it somehow. In the 2 weeks i've had it she's hardly driven it...
