I don't know where this is going to end up...

The MRFs were good for me when NA, but haven’t tried them since the Meg conversion. I think Alex uses them on his Megane and is fairly happy - although one tyre had started to delaminate the last time I saw him.

I don't know where this is going to end up...

Did my first bit of work on the car in a long time. I’ve been irritated by the fit of the front bumper at the wheel arches since BeanieSport did the Meg conversion - was told at the time it was due to the size of the intercooler. It finally annoyed me enough to take a look at it. Working...

I don't know where this is going to end up...

Thinking about seeing my Meglio… just had a great trip to Anglesey where the car performed flawlessly, but fancy changing to something RWD with a V8 up front! I’ve spent a small fortune on the car, but interested to see what you think it’s worth in current condition/spec? If it matches the...

I don't know where this is going to end up...

It’s was a reconditioned 225 box with a standard R26R diff supplied by BeanieSport that destroyed itself. I went for the same again, but this time supplied by AW Motorworks. It behaves well on the road and track, so fingers crossed I get a few more miles out of it this time!

I don't know where this is going to end up...

Clio’s been tucked up in garage since Cadwell, and no more plans until Anglesey at end of August. I’ve been sticking to my guns and not modifying the family car… except for the the dump valves… induction… exhaust… catch can… badges… spoiler…

    Big Bens non Clio

I think it’s human nature to want a change - the fun is in the unknown and the finding out! I still get a buzz from the sighting laps when meeting a new track - but the excitement will never be as intense as that first time round Brands, so I get what your saying. I’ve also finished modding my...

A few pics of the Clio for a change! Wasn’t going to buy any but then saw the post about the other photographer who was at Cadwell and he was much better value. Plus a personal favourite - alfresco lasagne and chips was top notch, and what a view!

I don't know where this is going to end up...

You’d be surprised - a few South Korean options and a whole bunch of US ones… quite a lot of Kia Stingers being modded across the pond. Problem is they’re so expensive, especially with import fees and taxes. I was really lucky and picked this up from UK distribution in a sale!

I don't know where this is going to end up...

Stuck a fresh exhaust on the non-Clio this morning - factory was quiet as an EV, now it sounds like a V6!

I don't know where this is going to end up...

Well… almost! The clear coat on front bumper keeps going hazy, it’s one of those things that once you notice your eye is constantly drawn to it!

I don't know where this is going to end up...

So an interesting morning at AW Motorsport… we discovered the reason the clutch had failed so quickly! What I thought was a lightly used R26.R clutch and SMF, was in fact a 225 Clutch and DMF… which is not really compatible with whopping great lumps of torque. I’m going to write a separate...

I don't know where this is going to end up...

Alex did a sterling job as always, gearbox was kaput so have a fresh gearbox and diff. He also diagnosed and fixed a minor and persistent oil leak while the box was off, which BeanieSport kindly paid him to rectify. Not all good news though, driving home I noticed the clutch slipping a couple...

I don't know where this is going to end up...

The Clio is now in Alex’s capable hands - I’m confident he’ll do a bullet proof job so already planning a trip to Spa and Nordschleife in May! A couple of chaps followed me into Alex’s in an alien green Clio… turns out they’d been at Bedford when I was there with the Stinger… small world!

I don't know where this is going to end up...

Stinger saved the day for Bedford - had so much more fun than I expected and made me totally forget the Clio problems! Only span out once… on the first corner out of the pits on cold tyres! What followed was a very slow and cautious rest of lap, holding everything up, and back into the pits to...

I don't know where this is going to end up...

I swear this f*%king car is doing it on purpose! Took it for a spin ahead of Bedford and funny gearbox noises ahoy… plus it felt like the LSD locked up at one point. So off to Alex for a gearbox oil check and it’s full of floaty bits of metal - argh! I’ve had one track day and about 2,000...

I don't know where this is going to end up...

It’s been a cheap year with no mods happening! It passed it’s MOT in July, just renewed the insurance, and had a service with AWMotorworks - car got a clean bill of health ahead of Bedford next month. Car’s so much fun to drive - just hope weather’s ok so that I can stretch its legs round...

    New Car Ideas

£35K would very nearly get you a 1 year old old Kia Stinger… which is what I bought just over 6 months ago! It can be a relaxed and super comfortable cruiser, or hilariously fast and slightly scary… when you feel like it.

Inside of locking wheel bolt sheered off - aaargh!

Exactly this - I’m trying to figure out who last took the wheels off the car… it wasn’t me!

Inside of locking wheel bolt sheered off - aaargh!

So glad I got the right tyres on for today - Castle Combe is a great circuit. Changes since my last track day are Meg conversion (+300bhp), Gaz golds, and the megane LSD…the sticky tyres were the icing on the cake, and the way it put the power down out of corners was immense!

Inside of locking wheel bolt sheered off - aaargh!

Local tyre shop got the bolts out - needed a bit of chiselling so wheels took a battering! @burrellbloke I won’t be using locking wheel nuts again either… car normally lives in the garage anyway!
