I'm in South Africa, and the only car on our roads that uses a 215/45/17 is the Clio. Whereas every second car here is a Merc, BMW or Audi which use 225/45/17. Therefore there is an abundance of these tyres available and they are a lot cheaper! To put in in perspective. A set of 215/45/17...

Decent gains throughout the rev range, but mostly on top. It was fitted in conjunction with a 63mm exhaust, with one center box, and split into two 57mm pipes into two boxes at the rear (3 boxes in total).

A few guys here in South Africa have done this mod with very good gains. Here is an example of one that has been ceramic coated. They just cut out the cat, and got a local exhaust place to make up the connection

You sure its not the clutch or gearbox making a "popping-like" sound on upshift. Mine was doing the same - I also thought it was the exhaust popping. Took it in, and they said it was the synchro...

Probably best to stick with what is recommended by the manufacturer. I went up a size, because where I live 225/45/17's are half the price of 215/45/17's...

After you match the inlets, the torque and power increase is that after re-mapping or felt instantly. My car is already mapped by RS Tuning. If I do this mod, will I require mapping again?

Check these guys out. http://www.gotech.co.za/ Unbeleivable quality and reliability, plus it will be cheap if you buying in Euro's. Their ECU's have been used extensively in M3 Turbo's, and they manage to keep all the existing fault codes etc etc. So I'm sure in a N/A Renault it will be fine.
