£189 Orange Phonebill...

Right then, I goes online to check my balance and... £189.

Usually I pay £50-60 per month. So I gives the nice Geordie call centre a ring and I'm told that because this month I used a lot more than my contracted minutes I've had a ''higher than usual'' bill. I asked how exactly has it gone four times higher than usual and I'm told it's because I've been charged 35p/Minute for mostly landline calls.

Now, when I'd finished having a heart attack at the 35p/Minute bit, I explained that I'd never been told about this and obviously never experienced this before in my many years with Orange. To which the nice girl told me that they had infact informed me of the charges when I took out my original contract FOUR years ago. Now I understand her point that it's my responsibility to know what the charges are etc., but I can't help but feel that this is all very unreasonable.

I tell her that I won't be paying it in one hit and ask to pay it over the next few months. She says that's fine, but my phone will be barred until it's cleared, unless I wait for the ''Collections'' people to contact me once my bill is late and then arrange a payment plan with them. I ask to pay £50 now and set it up but she says because my bill isn't yet late they'd cut it off.

How f?cking backwards is this country, no wonder it's on its arse.

I can't pay my bill or arrange payments until it's late. WTF!?!

You bad lad.Who you been phoning then?????
Sex lines I thought were more expensive

Don't even get me started on mobile phone companies

T-Mobile buggered me about and screwed up my bill so much I ended up with a £400 rebate!

Going to pay it and then do the "write a letter to the boss" thing. Never had any literature about costs etc. as it was all done online.

Blooming hell Will thats an awful lot of porn... seriously though I had the same huge phone bill shock with Tesco mobile. Had to pay it then told them to cap my spending.

I'll be doing that myself mate, couldn't believe the 35p/Minute thing!!!

Not what I needed this month with Tax, MOT and Emergency Tax all coming at once.

iv'e just finished a long drawn out battle with Tesco mobile which resulted in a refund of £600 and £40 worth of vouchers.

Good luck sorting this out

Orange are *******s to be honest, I avoid them like the plague.

For one example, of my many bad, on my dads phone bill they added 100 texts to it, he's never sent a text message in his life. They make it up as they go along, I'd ask for an itemised bill if i was you and check it all.

I got on it online mate, charged me £15 or somthing daft like that for a one hour call to a BT landline. Tw@ts.

Well, £118 was call charges, plus my usual line rental plus VAT made it the £189.

Robbing twunts.

I've been with Orange for years, apart from one cock up when they charged me for the Data usage on my Ipad (it's on a shared contract with iPhone, and is supposed to share the 2gb data limit) they've been great.

Must admit they've generally been in with me which is why this has surprised me so much. Not their fault entirely I suppose, but still, would've been nice to know my call charges etc., beforehand. D'oh!
