Cliosport Festival 2017

Hi guy's what can i say enjoyed the banter on fri night with chris & his other half & greg (some traveling there mate)
sorry for the snoring ( quote i'm not loud but consistent )sat evening met jimmy & gregor both top bloke's
glad i made one in but felt a bit of an outsider during the day which caused me to be pissed off & bored
that's why i packed up & went, by that time i'd lost the will to live
the event itself also left me numb as i was expecting more ,you can only watch car's going round a track for so long
not a wif of traders or any second hand sale's & food limited to the overpriced venue
will i go again ? not if you paid me
the only thing i 'm up for in future is what jimmy sugested a ride out not sat in a field

I'll echo that in that there was not a lot to do bar watching the track. I think next year I'll just travel up for the day for the track

Sorry you felt that way Chris - you seemed to disappear early on in day and didnt see you until much later on, else you could have come and joined us for a chat etc...

Can see where your coming from, and if youve been around a while and know quite a few people then its easy to get talking to people. Probably even harder for the 197.net group as the Cliosport folk know each other all very well and theres a lot more of them! Don't say never though mate

As you said, there will be some more opportunities for some meets coming up, and they will most likely be drives and cafes etc!

Didn't someone mention a few are going to a event at santa pod. That should be a good event with stuff and stands. Maybe that's worth going to just a idea think it's early Sep tho

Gutted I missed Davedreads throw up..... again. That was definitely the highlight of CS14 for me. Maybe next year.

Yeah just to echo Chris' comments, this is a very CS-heavy event, and understandably so - it is their big forum get together of the year. 197.net do have a small turnout in comparison, but that is of course relative to the size of each forum.

I mentioned it on another thread, but Chris and I had some very positive comments regarding our forum and the traffic it gets, and has had, recently. It has grown a lot in the time that us 'new blood' have taken the reins and it really shows. Although we had a comparatively small turnout this year at CSF, I feel confident that if we keep moving in the same direction that we have been, next year we will get a much bigger attendance, and show CS that we have an equally strong forum

CSF18 will be in the diary, along with FCS18 with a friend in his 207 GTi (idiot I know..).

There were many very nice examples, but the star of the show for me was this -

I was lucky enough to get a passenger ride with Paul, and this Clio was truly unbelievable, left me a little speechless ha
!

I got talking to him and Paul from RST, fully forged meg unit. Currently running a hybrid turbo and running at 340bhp. They are fitting a garret and will be pushing another 100bhp out of it at a minimum.[emoji23].....subject to gearbox and drive shafts lasting!!

He said that because they were running slicks the extra horsepower was a necessity :grinning:

Yeah he said they were looking to get it to 400bhp, I thought he was crazy, never imagined it possible to put that amount of power down in a fwd hatchback, then I went in it... and it blew my mind, I actually kept forgetting I was still sat in a Clio lol

I am sorry to hear that you felt that way.. but the show is all about the social side of things if were honest..it always has been and always will be primarily about socialising, seeing old friends, making new friends etc. We can't unfortunately force people to socialise with each other but we do our best to provide the environment to allow it to happen.

Saturday evening was absolutely fantastic with the food and live band.. the comments over on cliosport.net are amazing this year and its made me very happy indeed since I spend the entire year making sure everything is as perfect as it can be on the day..

There is only so many activities we can provide because the show is heavily subsidised by club funds.. There is no profit from this show.. in fact the club makes a huge loss on it every year....its not on the level of fcs or trax etc its about friends getting together and also about people enjoying the track.

I am a bit confused by the food comment though? Lunch and evening meal on Saturday is provided free with your entry ticket? lots of people just bring their own bbqs for the rest of their meals if they are camping, what was overpriced exactly?

To everyone else thank you for the kind comments and we were so pleased with 197's turnout  It was really nice to meet you all and finally put a face to words with @Chris and @Jimmy XX
