Hi From Northern Ireland

Cheers folks. Only been searching a few days and it’s exhausting.. I’ve owned hot hatchbacks all my days and a Renault is about the only one I haven’t looked at before, there is no pricing structure it’s melting my head lol

There is but specs vary so much lol! As well as condition, mileage, belts etc..

It's the fact that 2010 cars are going for the same money as 2012 ones in same condition and roughly the same mileage. It's crazy considering the book price is around £6200 for a 2010 with low miles and the dealer sell is around £7200. Yet some are looking £8000-£12000. I would pay £8000+ for a 2012 cup with low miles but not a 2010 lol

Well the cup you're not going to have any 'luxuries', folding mirrors, air con in some cases, key card... Just make sure you find one with the cup chassis.

I'll Keep Searching. There are quite a few that are advertised with dealers at decent money with decent miles although they don't say Cup even though they look like it. Is there a way to tell a difference between a Cup or No Cup?

Just be very aware just because its a 2012 that in no way guarantee its better than a 2010 car...the price theory you can apply to 'normal' cars goes a bit out the window with cars like this, I looked at what should have been a lovely 2012 LY one and it was an absolute dawg.

Do you realise the difference between a CUP car and a 200 with CUP suspension - slightly different offerings.

@kevlar I would take a 10 car if the money was right but I don't see paying £8k+ for one if the 12 is the same. Like the 2012 car that Steve Murr has at the minute, there are people selling 2010 for the same money if not more. It's very strange to me. I understand the cup is stripped of some minor weight and certain percentages stiffer and lower than a standard one. It is the cup chassis I am after :thumb:

I know from our conversation yesterday your not going to mod yours, but buying a standard car and adding billies would be a good option while the cup suspension is fine its not for everyone - coming from a golf GTI could be a bit of a shock!

I loved the Golf GTI it was an amazing car to own and drive. Steve Murr has been in touch with me so I'll see what happens with that. He seems to know what he's doing and I think he has found what I am looking for. See what happens...

Watch the A75 to Stranraer speed cameras on it all the time the last run there was 3, 2 along the road normally on the blind side of a bend the third was on the 1st M6 bridge southbound. There is always at least 1 camera van I've also seen the police on the side roads with handheld laser guns over the roof left and right of the road on open stretches. You would be better using Holyhead take the A41 or A51 or just the original A5 as the M6 might do your head in when you keep looking for that elusive 7th gear I've had the 197 for 3 years and I still sometimes look for 7th gear. Remember the euros for the tunnel and Dundalk tolls.

Hi again Gareth. I hope that the car meets your expectations! They're certainly fun if you enjoy revving a car & aren't worried about turbo like mid range torque. I have a turbo daily but I so enjoy the Clio because I have to work to get the best from it. Handling is absolutely spot on too! Let's be honest we're in the last days of the naturally aspirated hot hatch & that being the case we're so lucky to get to experience them. I'm so glad I have one & hope you will be too!

To be fair, MCR are probably the best garage I know of in the South West, a fair few of my friends have bought a range of cars from there, they've been spot on every time. Enjoy the drive home, but don't get caught by the Police, they've been hot on speeding on the M5 between Bristol and Birmingham for a little while, lots of unmarked about.

Evening folks

Job is done. I’ve booked a flight to Bristol from Belfast on 18th November to collect an RS200 Cup . I must admit I think I’ve found myself a cracker. 2011 with 26k. Can’t wait to pick it up then gun it to the Scottish border and onto Stranraer . Cheers

So far these guys have been an absolute pleasure to deal with

Looks lovely mate! Keep us updated how it goes

Car looks a stunner. Only missing Recaro’s - if that’s a must as it is for some.

I’m saying that - far better to get the right car as they can added any time later if wanted.

Great price too IMO for the year, miles and spec.

Safe trip collecting. ENJOY !

Speaking from experience by any faint chance? :relaxed:

No not all Chris. The Recaros are nice. And having had the car without and now with: they are definitely not a game changer for me.....

Others (Most ?) might disagree - but bearing in mind you can only choose from what’s available; i’d choose a late, good spec, low miles car without Recaros over ‘another’ in a heart-beat. Unless of course all bases can be covered in an ideal World

I had some teething troubles with mine ref manifold and brakes - but since then it’s been faultless. And I think and hope that came from buying the latest, lowest owner, lowest mileage and best specced car I could find. As it looks like the original poster has done here.

Good decision I say !

Yes thats what I meant! You are speaking from experience as you chose the right car, serviced, low owners, best specced etc ,without the recaros then added them in later stage when you got all the teething problems out the way!

Now you say that - I guess I did ! Not that I’d planned it that way.

I do believe I was going to leave it standard if I remember rightly....

***All im saying is: Great car, great spec, super mileage and the not having Recaros doesn’t detract on it for me. For road use the seats will be mighty fine as-is

Once again.....ENJOY !
