New-ish owner here, I'm Ronnie from stockport, just near manchester, late march i bought my liquid yellow R27, the plate is hy57 vrc (soon to be R27 LYX) as i just ordered a private plate.

not the best start to ownership, owned it about a month but only had it on the road a few times due to needing the gearbox sorting out as it was fooked, crunching and not going in gear, thought it was just synchros but the box had a hole in so i ended up getting a New (rebuilt) box and clutch put in and i will be collecting the car from the garage tomorrow so wanted to put a quick intro post up as i'm new to the forums, I use facebook and thats about it but this sites been recommended a few times, thought its the best place for help and advice and seeing other owners who are local to me etc.

The few times i have drove the car i loved it, pretty quick, handles mint! and looks amazing, LY is probably my favourite colour on a car, it also has the cup spoiler which im a big fan of. I always loved renaults from being a kid, a guy near me used to have a williams, my uncle had a 1.8 16v and my mum had a 1.2 oasis for over 15 years which i used to drive as a kid, my 1st car was a mk2 1.2 clio in red which i loved it only cost me £250 and i drove it everywhere did about 20k miles in it breaking it a few times along the way, I was then going to get a 182 trophy but couldnt get insured, so ended up getting a 2013 mazda 3 MPS, for some reason i could insure a 2.3 turbo with 260BHP but not a clio, oh well i loved the MPS, did over 35k in a year and drove it all over europe from germany all the way down to places like switzerland and austria, once i've got a few things sorted on my clio ill be doing the same so will put a post up once i do! anyway after a year i got a bit bored of the mazda, it was stupidly fast but abit too boring, no where near as fun to drive as a clio and now that i could get insured after turning 21 i was back looking for either; 182 trophy, clio williams, or an R27, there was a few other choices but these were my top 3, the other choices being a 147 gta alfa, 106 rallye, or an RX8 as i wanted something N/A, anyway i saw a for sale post from a guy called scott on facebook who i thinks on here, he was selling his car and was only an hour away in chester, went down to view the car, and then ended up buying it a few days later, since buying it i've bought a set of AD08r's, R26r discs, ds2500 pads and braided brake lines, will also be looking at upgrading the suspension at some point and then a few other bits, service, few exterior mods etc.

Going to use this forum as a way of tracking the progress of the car, uploading pictures and what work I've had done to it etc as I've seen a few others on here have done similar with their clios, almost like a car diary. tried putting pics up of my previous cars aswell as my R27, not sure if it will work but will have better pics soon.

Welcome aboard! Shame about your first months of ownership but sounds like she’s in good hands and some nice mods planned!

Also, forgot to ask, what i did notice about the car, when pressing the accelerator, its almost as if the pedal has 2 stages its hard to explain but when you press it, you then have to press again to floor it, is this normal with 197s? sorry for the bad explanation

Echo what @Beany says. Welcome & glad the car is in good hands now. For inspiration on European trips check YouTube for vids by member on here @Yiannis197 . You'll love his antics with his Lotus driving friends!

welcome:french: Yes, that's normal, the throttle response is shocking. Some people fit a Sprint Booster, whereas others swear they're useless pish. Best do your research on here!

Excellent intro Ronnie. I grew up in Poynton. Parents still live in Cheadle Hulme. Our R27 is up there occasionally, would be cool to get a photo of them together.

Shame about the gearbox but all sorted, you'll forget about the money and enjoy the car.

Welcome :thumb:

Will try and remember to give you a nudge next time we’re up mate. Had the car coming on three years and only ever seen two R27s on the road. Both Nimbus and both within months of having the car.

Would definitely be cool to see them together. You’ve got the full sticker pack too which is a bonus.

Welcome to the forum!

Car looks brilliant, LY is such a great colour.

Bit random but you weren't in the car park near the Travelodge at Manchester Arena on Sunday morning by any chance were you ? Saw a lovely LY R27 parked up, forgot until I saw this post.

Quick update, got the car back today. Gearbox is mint so far, its nice to be able to change gears, got a new clutch fitted along with the rebuilt gearbox which i got from rentune, got the car valeted and replaced the FIA sticker which comes on the R26/R27 as mine was faded, i think its the original one still from factory, i also put the renaultsport badge on as the previous owner removed it but i thought it looked boring without, now off for a drive :smile:30776994_2069746563039725_761258519_n.jpg 30784404_2069746973039684_1918267287_n.jpg 30776383_2069746599706388_2019764198_n.jpg 30784683_2069746816373033_274507282_n.jpg 30831345_2069746756373039_1546119881_n.jpg 31077052_2069746899706358_930816968_n.jpg 30859666_2069746713039710_345993296_n.jpg

Car is looking GREAT Ronnie. Only thing I'm not keen on is the LY steering wheel insert but I guess you need to see it in context along with the dash strips too as I can see those have also been painted. Seats look in good condition too.

Get out for a good drive mate. Goyt Valley would be my choice from where you are. A good run up the A6 to Buxton to stretch it's legs and then on into the valley for more fun stuff.

Have a good one.
