Pollen filter ripped out

I've read a wet pollen filter can cause problems with the heater if the drain holes get blocked. Thought I'd check mine and it's as below..



Any reason someone would rip it out?checked and the filter isn't in the housing, luckily ecp was still open so fitted a fresh one.

Honestly, the easiest thing to change on the car so far!
