Silverstone Edition 200 - AST 5100

How are you finding the Reyland discs

Developed some judder a while back in the steering when braking at ~70mph and also when the brakes got hot. Turns out I managed to warp the nearside disc.

Went to a brake specialist who skimmed them on the car and they are back to feeling good again.

Getting close to needing replaced soon anyway. Depending on how much money I have at the time I will either get AP discs as they fit on the bells or just get the Renault grooved 312mm discs.

Is that a full Renault dealer service history required?, because if so I'm stuffed

Apparently it doesn't have to be renault but it's renaults decision not the dealers?? Might be worth a call? Just look into the warranty first so you know what your talking about, apparently some dealers didn't even realise they have 11 years corrosion warranty.

on a bright side they are not too expensive...

You get what you pay for I suppose

@Jack Maxwell that's what puts me off them

I had AP rotors on my DC5, they were spot on

Think I may just go for the 312mm to save hassle and money next. Car doesn’t get tracked really. I’ve got braided lines with decent fluid and pads any way

Cheers for that. I’ll have a look

So after spending 2 weeks around Europe melting in 42 deg heat finally got a proper air con recharge. Why didn't I do this sooner, works a dream now.

Also came across the cars cousin, the Twingo Silverstone edition

Car is going into the garage tomorrow to fix a squeaky clutch slave. New clutch is also getting fitted along side the gearbox powerflex mount. Was considering buying an LSD but fought the urge and not going with it for now.

This also happened after cleaning the car the other day.

. Certainly makes the car a lot louder, especially with the Akro

Two new PS cup 2s needing fitted also because some :censored: has sabotaged a local B road by putting down nails. Loads of cars and bikes with multiple nails in tyres. I managed to pick up 5 in just one tyre

On the way to a car meet the car decided to catch fire. Looks like this has happened to a number of folk, it was the wiper stalk shorting and melting/burning. Bit of a panic moment whilst you're driving along and smoke starts pouring out the steering column!

So ripped it out and continued on the journey over the highlands. Got to Inverness to see these two machines:

After speaking to the owner of the two Porsche's we convoyed back to the east cost over the highlands. Half way over he stopped and told me to get in the GT2 RS, no not the passenger seat either! So he drove the Clio and I got to drive the 700hp beast for a wee blast! Some experience

Car had a tough couple hours keeping up with those two, best drive yet though.

happened to me too..have you had your battery replaced recently..?
yeah i remember going f***..i was just pulling away from a side street so managed to stop quickly and turn the engine off..got a replacement from ebay for £20..

lucky you to drive that Porshe..very jealous ..how was it??

Wow that must have been some experience, I can’t even imagine what they must be like to drive. Not jealous in the slightest!

On a side note crap news about the wiper stalk but good that you caught it in time. I keep debating getting a little fire extinguisher for my car just for this, it’s certainly not an isolated incident.

Battery was replaced back in winter so shouldn't be that. The Porsche was surprisingly easy to drive, thought it would be more intimidating. Just plant the foot and you're gone though. The owner has some amount of trust putting his half million pound machine in a 22 year olds hand though!

Yeah I plan to get an extinguisher now! I wonder if Renault know much about it because the stalk design is across a whole range of models and not just the Clio

They probably do but I’d be surprised if they admit it. It’ll cost them a fortune having to investigate and replace whatever causes it. Worth a try though.

Lovely car bud, silver always looks so clean but yours is on another level! Id love to have an immaculate low mileage weekend toy, mines a beater in comparison! Love the roadtrip too.

Mileage is certainly rising now though. Just passed 40k, only had 16k when I got it
