Toyosport manifold flexi blowing

Hi, just bought the wife a rough 08 plate 197 and the exhaust is blowing badly at the front. Now I got the car cheap so expect to spend a bit on it. On closer inspection it would appear that the single flexi is shot and the manifold is stainless steel. Realising that the oem manifold has two flexis I assume this one to be a Toyosport (not confirmed).

I have had a search online and only read others with issues with the oem unit and not the aftermarket ones so here is the dilemma. Where would I purchase suitable flexi to weld in to replace the duff one. I am planning to just drop the manifold enough to weld in situ so that I dont have to drop the subframe and remove it.

Anyone came across this or have any suggestions?

Ok a quick update for anyone living near Glasgow needing exhaust work. I went to C&C custom exhausts in Hillington and they are going to weld a new flexi in while I wait tomorrow morning. At £100 plus vat it wasn't worth my while rolling about the driveway trying to weld it.

Yeah i recently had a new one welded into mine too... So they don't last forever, but at least with the toyosport manifold, it can be done without having to remove the manifold, or drop the sub frame.

Got it welded yesterday and all seems fine except for the dreadful exhaust note the car has. It would seem to only have a back box and sounds like a wasp in a tin can. There is also heavy vibes/knocking from under the front passenger footwell yet the exhaust and manifold is well clear of the car?

That's probably why the flexi went in the first place your engine mounts need looked at all can be done at home without specialist tools just time and care. If you don't like vibration then use the standard parts I changed gearbox mount, bottom engine mount and the torque mount near the brake reservoir bottle on a RHD car, change one at a time don't disconnect them all at the same time or have it jacked up at funny angles because when you put the new ones in the engine may sit in an unnatural position causing more stress on the exhaust system than necessary.

hehe.. For a long time, i had mine decat, and a non res scorpion cat back system. It was loud, but had a lovely note to it, could be heard a few miles away when giving it beans. Defiantly wouldn't describe it as a wasp in a tin can lol. Recently had centre section refitted, so iv got a silencer and cat in again, to quieten it down.. Still using the scorpion back box though. Girlfriend says its a marked improvement (Not quite sure i agree however).

As for the noise in the passenger foot well. Does it happen all the time? Or just under acceleration? After i fitted the manifold, there appeared to be plenty of space between the sub frame and the manifold, but once the engine rocked under acceleration back it would knock on the frame and vibrate (That sounded like an angry wasp in a tin can!). Simple fix putting a new, uprated engine mount in.
