Thanks for replies on the revs things folks. Just thought I'd double check. Any ideas about the strange noises at 1500 and 2500 rpm? Is it possible there's something loose and resonance from the exhaust is is causing the noises at those revs?

Maybe your fella is doing you a favour. My good lady "let" me have an Impreza P1, it needed an engine rebuild within a year (done under warranty), then let me get an Evo X. I'm having to go to court with that one as the engine blew up after only three months! Hence why I picked up a 197 last...

Thanks folks. What about oil? I've read it's 5w40, but for the purposes of topping up, does it matter about mixing brands? I'm not very good on the mechanical/technical side of cars, but I used to use Millers on the jap cars (as advised), or should I just swing by a dealership to pick up some elf?

They're non-recaros, but I'm going to prioritise the steering wheel getting re-trimmed. I assume a main dealer can do that?
