So what's your job?

I would love to say I did something interesting such as being a body double for Ron Jeremy or Peter North but I am a tax consultant for an oil major. As I have a large family my second job involves property renovation and I am completely self-taught doing all the plumbing, electrical work, plastering and decorating myself. Hard work doing 2 jobs but hopefully it won't be forever :smile:

Dont know if its more impressive the fact your a number cruncher by day and a finger cruncher (Well hopefully not) @ the weekends, or the fact you still manage to spend so much time on here and run an immaculate toy you obviously put alot of time into also.

Do you have longer days than i do "down" there ?:smile:

LOL! I don't know how I manage it sometimes. I start and finish early for the main job, then back home for DIY, then trying to find a bit of time for the kids. My main job is not so much numbers now but as a tax lawyer, trying to sort out arguments against tax authorities etc. My DIY skills are quite good now but I am VERY slow so we have been here 10 months now and still only 60% complete :worried:

I'm an HR Manager for a global real estate firm in the City, moving to a new job on Monday doing the same thing, but for an online games company with such titles as 8 ball pool... Will be a complete culture change (no more suits, yay!) and a really nice friendly atmosphere :grimacing:
I know there's not much love for HR, but I'm lovely to work with :tongueout:

HR = Hot Rod??:oops:

Impressive! What was it you designed if you don't mind me asking? :smiley:

I should've noted that it was nothing special. It was to renew the old tool designs from hard copies to a CAD model/drawing, modify some existing designs/tools and improve on existing tools to stop the turbine rings (forgot the name of the parts lol) getting damaged when loading and unloading from the machines.

The tools I was designing/modifying were various lifting devices.

Im a IT/Audio Visual technician at Nottingham Trent Uni.
i spend half my time turning on "broken" equipment that lecturers couldn't get to work because its not turned on :tearsofjoy: and the other replacing equipment the students have actually managed to break.

PGDE - Post-Graduate Diploma of Education - http://www.dundee.ac.uk/study/pg/primary-education/ basically a 1-year Post-grad course, with school placements included for practical experience. You do coursework at Uni, and then when out in a school you get examined on your teaching.
Current degree course is alright, I'm not really fussed about it either way tbh, just getting on with it as something that I have to do to get where I want to be!

Admire you mate, my nephew is on his 1st year as a primary school teacher in Edinburgh. Good to see guys doing this as so many primary school teachers are female & I think kids need both male & female role models.

Me, I'm a white van man, quite possibly soon to be retired as I'm currently off with work related stress! Left school in '79 & went into banking but decided office work not for me & more to life than chasing money. Great life since with various jobs but company changed somewhat recently & as I intended to retire in 4 years time anyway maybe the time has come now.

Cheers, appreciate it. That's the main reason for doing it. So many idiots with kids thesedays, and so many teachers who think that teaching begins and ends with opening a textbook. Really looking forward to it, can't come soon enough tbh

Thanks for all the replies so far! It's nice to get to know a little something about everyone on here :smiley:
