A/C fault

Yes just when it's 1000 degrees outside my air con decides to pack up. Not impressed lol. I thought it would be a easy fix down to a re-gas as it was just blowing room temp air though the motor with the A/C on. So I had it gassed up but nothing changed. The guy said it might be the compresser that's faulty as we can't hear it kicking in if that makes sence? Anyone got any ideas or where the best place would be to take it etc?

so you took it to be gased at an air-con place but they don't know whats wrong with it or "guess" its the compressor....impressive!

what did they do just put in some gas and hope for the best?

Thats bull!! Ask them to pressure test and refill the gas with a dye. That way if it is leaking you can see it with a uv light

If the pressure has dropped too low the ecu locks the pump out, so it has to be reset using clip. But if its leaked i would be trying to find where its leaking first

I've seen this mentioned a few times, however I'm not sure how accurate it is. Mine wasn't working at all last year due to the gas leaking out over time, however a quick recover and refill and it worked straight away, no clip required....

dont forget it works on pressure, if its leaked over time, then the gas as probably leak through a seal, then as soon as the pressure gets to a certain level where the seal is no longer let the gas past, its not low enough to trip the lock out but not high enough for anything to work.

it defo is the case, as a few have had to have the system reset, but a few didnt need it.

I got the impression the pressure was good it just wasn't kicking in but it could of been his gear i gess. Will go to a A/C specialist with your information cheers guys. I will suggest the dye for leaks and the lockout from the ECU.

if the compressor wasn't working how did he check the pressures...?
