Brakes not 'great'

My brakes don't feel that good when wanting to stop from 70mph+ They work for a second then they feel like they're glazed over even though their not. Not had the car long so have nothing to compare it to. They seem OK other than that. Pads and discs both look good. Will probably get the fluid changed shortly. I dont think i'd be all that happy on track with it as it is.

Do four or five 70-30 slow downs with decent pressure, then let them cool for five minutes and repeat.

Might just need bedding in a bit, or re-bedding in if you've been doing a lot of town/gentle driving.

Will try that next time i'm in it

If that does the trick, which hopefully it will, just commit yourself to taking her out for a good thrashing once per month at the least.

Not just a quick blast around the block, but a good Sunday morning worth of abuse. Keeps mine healthy.

I gotta say i'm not much of a heavy braker TBH (don't like the brake dust on my shiney wheels!) Hopefully that'll sort it.

Is it like; They bite, then nothing as if you're free-wheeling, but if you let off the pedal and reapply then they bite again?

If so then mine have done that once before and the bedding in thing sorted it.

Think so yeah, will have play next time i'm in it and see.

I would start by giving all the brakes a good strip down and clean, makes a world of difference if it hasn't been done before. The steel backed pads can corrode into the aluminium calipers and become very ineffective.

Cool, should be helpful if it comes to that

i imagine it probably will come to this mate, mine where exactly the same as yr describing when i first bought my car,had all four corners stripped, cleaned and replaced, made an absolute world of difference, seems that the pads seize in the calipers pretty easily
