Creaking/clicking noise Drivers front wheel

Hi,

my car has started to have a Creaking/clicking noise coming from the drivers front wheel, it sounds like its coming from the centre of the wheel/hub, I've just had an MOT and it says "offside front suspension has slight play in lower suspension ball joint" and "play in steering rack inner joints" would this be the same as on this thread or is there a different ball joint, if so is there a way to test to find out which it is?

but the inner rack joint isn't that one...its the inner rack joint that wears...common fault
