DA Spot Pads

Got a light cut 4 inch polishing pad today, tried it out on something that was aerosol primed, painted and lacquered and it burnt straight through after a few seconds!

I'm a little nervous about using it on my car now, or did this just happen because the lacquer and paint from aerosols was too soft??

4 inch sorry, have edited the above post.

The polish was poorboys SSR2 - I had it on the lowest speed and it marred the lacquer straight away then went through to the primer layer. I'm thinking I caught the edges of the pad on it.

PDG = paint depth gauge yea? I wouldn't know where to start!

That's a fairly light combo via DA, so I wouldn't worry about using it on your paint.

I'd suggest the lacquer on whatever you tried it on wasn't fully cured, or similar. Happy to give you a hand with yours if you like for next to nothing

I may take you up on that offer Russ, when the weather gets a bit better later in the year? Would definately be good to learn how to best use the DA.
