200T: Damage at dealers

Well personally I wouldn't be too bothered, it's under the car, but if you feel it's damaged and your not happy, have them rectify it.

If as above, and that's not a jacking point then I'd be making sure that anything else is not damaged, as you have to be careful where your lifting a car from.

Without trying too seem to rude, what do you expect?

Its a jacking point, your lifting a car with it, its designed to take strain, if the jack isnt sat flush on there when you pick it up its going to move a little to get itself straight and might make a few scratches.

When you take it in next just ask them to be more careful if your unhappy. Could understand if they had scratched somewhere visible.

I can't even see what's wrong :/

Its the scrapes down to bare metal , usually my friends in garages would use rubber pads so paint protection is not scrapped of
bare metal rusts and a few years down the line you get holes
but if you don't really care about under or on top of your car that's upto you but if you just got a new car you want it kept new
underneath is just as important as paint on top to stop holes in body work

if they scrapped your paint on top down to bare metal would you be happy
so why should under be any different
cheers shocker

Jacking points are designed to hold the cars weight, they are solid metal, not thin plate metal like you might find on an arch that could rust through.

From the pictures (which aren't great but I appreciate it isn't easy to photo the underside if a car sitting on the ground) it looks like either underseal (unlikely) or dirt has been removed from where the car was lifted on a ramp leaving yellow paint showing. Other than cleaning the area and painting any areas that are found to be bare metal, of which I can see none but I haven't seen the car, I don't know what the dealer can do to fix this. Every ramp I've ever even has rubber pads on the lifting points on the ramp and I know that this can clean off dirt very easily.

The pictures are so blurry I still can't really make out what's wrong in the picture.

I think shocker is right, its just removed the dirt from under your car...

Use a karcher chassis attachment to wash under you car then you can inspect it properly and see if it is damage, to save your self the embarrassment of them proving you wrong .

What colour is your car? Bare metal to me means that it has no protection at all. It looks yellow to me, bare metal is not yellow
I know the pics are not great but there is areas of bare metal
dealer had on ramp today and said they will fix
they are blaming local foxes chewing at the underseal

That may be the worst excuse I have ever heard. I'm with you, the underseal is there for a reason. I would want it fixed too. Mine was a bit damaged after its last trip to a dealer, and I have repaired it. I always protect it when jacking with thick cardboard, and it does not get damaged. I wish garages would take more care with things like this.

Garages couldn't care nowadays as they are all on time restraints that's why most enthusiasts go the the specialists
my mate at HYPERTECH takes top class care when car is on ramps and doesn't just rely on pads he used extra thick pads that cost a few bob more on top of the price of ramps

That's a classic. I'd ask for that in writing just for the entertainment value alone.

i thought I was sound recording with my iPhone just for evidence but it never worked
going to video all chats with dealer from now on
that's foxes eating my underseal and earlyer in the year they said my indicator stalk was stiff to the right due to gravity pushing down against it

Complaining about that is pretty rediculous, that is a sure fire way to have your car taken out for an utter thrashing by a p*ssed off employee when you leave it with them, id rather have the scuffs underneath lol. If it bothers you, paint some epoxy primer on it, then black underseal on it......

When it comes to have the tyres done, you take it to somewhere whos cheapest, your local types, they will just throw a trolly jack under it and scuff it again, its a battle you cannot win.

When they are chatting the kind of shi*t above , do you really think they are going to seal that off properly???
