Garage costings, does it sound right?

Hi guys,

Long timer lurker but new to posting on this forum.
Previously had a 206...anyway.

I just wanted to see if people thought this price was fair from the garage i have taken my clio 197.

Nearside coil spring has been replaced and Offside ball joint (Lower i belive) has also been replaced, but when replacing it they had to break the abs sensor so they gave me that at cost. It also needed an MOT so they are doing that too.

The total so far comes to £645, thats with them supplying parts and labor.

Does this seem steep or fair?

Thanks

Sounds steep to me to be honest.

I had a coil spring replaced last year at a cost of around £180 if I remember correctly. As for the balljoint, did they replace the entire hub or just the balljoint itself? As for the ABS sensor, I would be querying that with them. I don't think that cost should fall to you, unless there's simply no way round replacing it without "breaking" the sensor. Sounds like it's been broken by them and they are trying to get you to pay for it.

I'd say exactly the same as Eddie above.

They are trying to pull one over on the sensor though. You do not need to break it to do any of those jobs. That's just pure incompetence on their part.
